this:The only point the OP is trying to make... is nothing, hes trolling comming from another thread he was trolling, his post was an exact copy/paste, hes pissed people liked what 11 was, even though these same people admited the obv. flaws the game had, though very minor threw the whole game, he feels the need to repeat them over and over claiming everyone holds the game to god status or something.
FFS his biggest problem from what i remember, saw it when he first posted... is character creation, really, because looking at your character is obviously the biggest part of the game and what you focus on. Content/endgame/leveling/community/ls none of this is important, just how the faces of npc's look, the fact that shantoto's isnt for some reason different from every other taru npc (shes just a strong taru, it literally makes no sense to think she has to look different than other taru's, and... wtf cares).
People also, along with the OP complaining about "Only fighting one mob at a time"... so? It was fun, wtf do people prefer massive mob burns where people do/learn nothing and most of the party can be afk.
Also this:
"- slow and passive combat (BLM had to rest MP for hours, casting spells each 10 minutes. Melee jobs hit every 5 seconds and have to wait for their TP to finally get filled slowly)"
If hes really trying to make a point, he shouldnt exaggerate to such a degree in the OP... there was HMP sets to get mp at a good speed and -cure cast time 50%, fast cast gear
For DD's - 26.4% haste cap (was something like that, been awile), TP building set
The OP is most likely someone who refused to use macro's because it could only be done by a programmer... obviously (i really hope people understand the sarcasm). He must have been naked trying to do anything in the game to have that big of an issue with it, nothing was that slow.
he understood what i wanted to say, you (jeron) not.I think the main point the op is trying to make that people tend to glorify old games and forget that they have their bad sides as well I've been playing mmo's since I was 17 years old which was 14 years ago.
I've played both This game and FFXI and I've loved both games the good with the bad. So I'm not a hater of either game.
well i think its everything said about this topic. we might also close this thread now ;D
Problem is most of the things you mentioned about FFXI are subjective. I prefer camping to XP. I prefer a game with a steep learning curve.
As for the customization, well, it WAS a 2002 game, and even now I run into clones in FFXIV all the time. They more than made up for it with the personalities of the NPCs, especially ones like Shantotto, Gilgamesh, Dynamis Lord, etc.
Ah, forgot about the UI, at least it was responsive and you set it up yourself. Even the menu system was fine. I'd kill for the ability to stop the little circle from popping up over my action bar so I could move while I'm fighting easily.
And on the last note, what's great about AoEing mobs to death and waiting for them to respawn? Again, I prefer a system where you fight a mob for a while, not just nuke it and shrug.

i so dont like this thread.
in FFXI's defense... it was fun & exiciting back then.
It was very unusal to other games back then aswell.
And even after so many years, the music, certain gfx details, ingame experiences
cannot be found in any other game even up until today.
Graphics isnt the only thing that makes a good game you know.
I used to be Noomy...then i took shiva's Hail Storm to my knee...

Xi was the first MMO to really make me enjoy MMo's. It was sorta dull at first and I said screw it. (at first it had less content then XIV started with). But it grew, and was worth going back too.
XIV is headed there. THE new engine, deisgn, feel loosk great. THe grpahics are above other current mmo's, includign Gw2. Only 1 other game has the apeal visually and the story line but its to modern age for me.

no i totally agree with you.i so dont like this thread.

FFXI/XIV still draw my interest since you get your MMO fix AND you get pretty cutscenes/interesting story at the same time. Several MMOs have started out doing cutscenes here & there, but usually by the time you are out of the tutorial they dry up and it's JUST grinding.

Of course it is going to be subjective he was voicing what he himself didn't like it didn't mean that he wanted everyone to agree with him on what was wrong with it. He was using his own personal examples we all do.Problem is most of the things you mentioned about FFXI are subjective. I prefer camping to XP. I prefer a game with a steep learning curve.

Wouldn't you agree that if everyone like EVERYTHING about a game it would a bit on the weird side. To me it would be like we had a (pardon the star trek reference) Borg mentality where we are borg we are many resistance is futile. No individual thought or quirks. I myself had my own dislikes of the game and yes the lack of customization of a character is one but I wasn't fond of the Level Sync either. It doesn't mean that he's putting the game down just posting his thoughts on what he feels and how it seems to him that everyone is over glorifying FFXI. I see a lot of threads that say bring level sync back bring this back bring that back and I just stare at those threads going... This is FFXIV it is its own game. Somethings I don't mind them bringing back like better ls control but that's different from the game play mechanics.
The point is everyone has their own opinions and because someone didn't like something and voices it doesn't mean that they speak for the whole or hate the game itself it's just something that irked them. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion on things and it's again ALWAYS going to be subjective. Take what people say with a grain of salt or even read deeper into what they're trying to say instead of just the words.
^_^ again. I still love XI and I have great memories of it and the people in there and I love this game and the people here (sometimes, but that's subjective as well) as well as just the whole game good and bad.
I have a secret to tell. From my electrical well. It's a simple message and I'm leaving out the whistles and bells. So the room must listen to me Filibuster vigilantly. My name is blue canary one note* spelled l-i-t-e. My story's infinite Like the Longines Symphonette it doesn't rest- TMBG Birdhouse in your Soul
