Do people always over price items?

Maybe its just because im newer to this game, but Im doing the research and some of these itmes on the market are cost waaayy less to make than people sell them for. Its not that I cant afford the weapon... its just I dont wanna feed someones greed.

Example: Ash Composite Bow is being sold for 50,000 on market.

Ingredients: Antelope Horn (16,000 per unit). 2 Ash Lumber (800~1000 per unit). Mole Sinew (100 per unit). .... All together thats 18,000 to 20,000 to make!! Where are people getting their prices from? Its not like its hard to get the items in this game..

What you're missing I guess is that people are buying said bow at 50k so people will continue selling it at that price until people stop buying it. The point of selling items is to make money, thus you'd want to make as much money as possible. Start high and work your way down until someone buys it.

exactly the point of "an item is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it."

if i put up an item for 100.000 and it doesn't sell then it's not worth 100,000. if i lower the price to 99,000 and it sells then it's worth 99,000. if i sell a few and people stop buying the item and i lower the price to 90,000 before it sells again it's then worth 90,000.

in other words op if you think it's not worth 50k don't buy it and see if people lower their prices because one person thinks it's too high.(hint: they won't lower the price as long as someone else is willing to pay it)

What about consideration for the poor people? How are they supposed to buy gears when everything is overpriced? Should they have to work to earn it? No I don't think so, who do you think you are?
I think the sellers should cater and lower the price so they can afford things that the rich can buy too.

Not sure if you're serious or not but....

For those who actually are that poor perhaps they should look into joining a good Linkshell. More often than not I've found people with crafts leveled are more than willing to help people out by making things if mats are provided or even free in some cases. If they don't want to do that then just do leves, you get tons of gil just from doing that.

The only time money really becomes an issue for gear is when you start double/triple melding things at 50. That gets quite expensive.

We were all poor at one time, we just worked our butts off to make our own gil. That is not out of the question to ask everyone to help themselves. Level a craft and farm your mats problem solved. We all had to do it, "the poor" are no different. It does not even cost anything to put items up on your retainer. There is no excuse for anyone on why they cant make their own gil. Unless of course you are just being lazy. Lazy people do not deserve to have prices cut for them, they need to deal with the consequences of being lazy, which is dealing with the prices of the gear / items.

Go out and do 50 leves with a group of 8 people you'll get 100k before everyone finishes their leves

Honestly, it's people like you OP that are the reason that XIV will never stand out like XI; you except everything to be solo'd and handed to you, and unfortunately SE will listen and cater to THOSE fans instead of trying to make the game the best they can.
