The Phantom train from FF6 =D There is train tracks no?

I'd love to have a space type area/dungeon like the moon one from FF4.

XII: City design like The Sky City of Bujerba. XII's cave design. The Pharos at Ridorana. The Sandsea - Thanalan doesn't really look like a desert as much as a drylands. I'd like some actual sand to play around in instead of the ocean.

X: A sport. Not blitzball because that hair-pulling game of physics-breaking football will always remind me of how much I hate that Meg Ryan fashion disaster and the lady with the hair antlers and the deep voice. But what I do want from X is an interesting, original sport where thousands of players can sit in a dome and get entertained buy. You can start your own team and see if it can go pro.

XIII: Gran pulse-style areas. Add Nautilus - I prefer it over the Golden Saucer any day when it comes to design. A place to have fun in. Roller coasters, chocobo petting zoo, giant parades, a clock tower you can lose your son in, have a nervous breakdown, fight an Eidolon in, then almost kill yourself before getting knocked out by a dominatrix and sent to a public execution in Eden on the Palamecia, get saved, and fight a gigantic demigod with singing baby head shoulderplates.

VIII: Don't add anything from VIII but keep note of it during every step of the design process. Keep note of how not to be like VIII in every way possible. Gunblades is VIII enough. Steer far, far away from the game's incomprehensible mess of a story, the game's unoriginal copypasta inhumane annoying dolts that make up its characters, the cruddy pacing, the needlessly ultracomplex junction system, the 5-year-old kid's storybook dialogue, and the forced-to-walk-sideways-through-a-door villian design. That would be fanservice enough.

    Hi All,

Fun thread. I'd like to see Yoshida-san and the FF14 Team iterate and develop their own interpretation of various things from previous Final Fantasies. But I'd love to see them taking inspiration from these previous games:

    • Amazing, Full-Blown Cinematic Summon Attacks. If they're taking away the classic Final Fantasy Summons for fast, repeatable usage (every battle), and making it so only 1 group can call a Summon per 2 week period(!), then please give us an amazing "Overdrive / Final Attack / 2 Hour" that's worthy of the Final Fantasy name.

      Like Shiva's Diamond Dust:
      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EBuZrPI2x_g

      Or Bahamut's Mega Flare!
      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HSDU-tJl2NA
    • Bahamut! I'd love to see the return of Bahamut (and Shiva and Knights of the Round).
    • Samurai. I'd love to see the Samurai Class return.

    • Final Fantasy VII's Fun Chocobo Raising and Racing System. I'd love to see an interpretation of this fun idea from FF7. It was cool raising and breeding your Chocobo, finding rare combinations and racing them at Gold Saucer.

    • Controllable Airships! I'd love to see more time with us in the Skies. Airships have been a staple of Final Fantasy and I can't wait to see how they develop gameplay experiences around them.
    • Classic Square Storytelling. I'd love to see a compelling, interesting, moving Story that we can participate in. Something that moves me on the same level that we saw in classics like...

Final Fantasy IV (FFII (U.S.)) - Cecil, Kain, Rydia, Edge, and the great Epilogue / Ending we were treated to.

Yuna's Send Off Dance from Final Fantasy X. Who could forget the inspirational, poetic, sorrowful event from FFX at the village?

      The Sending. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=Rgl9JxpVWQ8#t=376s

      Tidus and Yuna: http://static.zerochan.net/Final.Fan...full.80092.jpg

The awesome multiple endings in Chrono Trigger (and the interesting Story Paths / Characters / Situations you could get).
Seeing the 2.0 Materials so far, and Concept Art, etc., I remain excited and hopeful that Yoshida-san and team can deliver an exciting, fun "Final Fantasy" Experience.

And even though the current 7th Umbral Era Missions and Story were made in a brief amount of time to bridge 1.0 to 2.0, I'd say the Cinematics we've seen so far are fantastic! They're shot really well, with excellent cinematography, and feature some interesting situations. And I like the "mini-epilogue" we've seen at the end of the Van Darnus Battle.

I just hope in 2.0 we get an intriguing Arch Nemesis / Villain that's memorable and have situations that allow us to partake in an exciting Story and Missions that befit a "Final Fantasy." If they deliver there (and have challenging, fun End Game Content that's not so dependent on Spamming / Random Number Generators)), along with a beautiful, distinctive world, Final Fantasy XIV 2.0 will be the greatest comeback in videogame history (no hyperbole).

    I can't wait! Go! Go! Yoshida-san! (*'-')/

I was thinking about that the other day! Obviously it would be in Uldah... The Pugilists guild seems to deal in gambling, but none that the PCs can join in on... Maybe they should start the Golden Saucer.

Its been mentioned but a sport minigame like blitzball would be fun, with vanity rewards like team uniforms depending on which company you are in.
    Gold saucer type minigames.

    Any Greatsword Job.

Materia with added effects like in FFVII (added cut) etc. if you meld it to your gear you get x chance of your strike being cone AoE or something like that.

A materia wielder job like in FFVII this could also work like a blue mage mechanic where you set magic or ability "materia" and customize secondary bonuses depending on what materia you set.

Time mage teleport ability like in FFtactics. this could be awesome for both melee or magic users to set as an ability you could activate the ability then touch the arrow keys to be teleported a certain distance in the direction you touch the keys. Make it abort whatever animation is going on at the moment so that it is like a WTF button. let me heal you, oh darn wait ifrit crack is under me. Boom teleport back to safety.

Magitec armor or jousting / fighting on mounts.

Did I mention Greatsword jobs? SOLDIER Job / Darknight . . . anything
