Very interesting read. Thanks for taking the time to compile all of this.

I read yesterday but didn't see lore about the Archons, maybe it is good to have a listing. As far as I remember the Archons are re-incarnations of the 12 in "human" form.
Archons of the 6th Umbral Age
1. Ahldbhar - Rhalgr, the Destroyer (Race: Galka) (Name meaning Ahld = Old, bhar = Bear?) (Source, one of Uldah's normal quests)
2-12. ???
Archons of the 7th Umbral Age
1. Alfgar Uringar - ??? (Race: Hyur) (source is Gridania Company quests)
2-12. ???
Thank you for this, while playing XI the lore wasn't really there in game but out of game on the wiki was where I'd spend time reading into the quests and lore and it'd all fit together and I'd become attached to the lore that way. By reading this I've felt some of that same attachment I had to XI lore come over me with XIV lore. I've always been interested in tid bits from quests, but no wiki was up to my standards on lore so I could connect the pieces together. Thank you again.
I wanted to point out that 10 years ago the Garlean Empire abandoned their meteor project when an unknown event in the Bozja Citadel Happened. Strangely the same time that the primals first appeared in Eorzea.
Urianger Augurelt is in the same circle of knowing as Louisoix Leveilleur the Elezen who gives us the Ifrit and Moogle Quests
This is a great player blog about the Lore of Eorzea!

The Garleans are an enigmatic race of people from a massive empire situated to the north and east of Eorzea, and despite coming from a realm so large, remarkably little is known about them. As few have ever seen them without their armor, rumors about their physical makeup are many, some of the more "coloful" claims being that they implant machina in their bodies to improve agility and strength, and that they possess a third eye allowing them to see in all directions at once. Though, I would assume there is little truth to these sailor's tales. (Merewina)
an utterly amazing read, great job![]()

people started noticing some of the pop-culture references S.E. put in the game. ive always liked immodest mouse, being a fan of modest mouse, and all.
and,
i believe, this is what he meant. its from a faction levequest, i forgot which:Oh! Don't know if someone has mentioned this before, but according to my Linkshell leader there's an NPC in Ul'dah somewhere that comments something like: "There sure have been a lot of Sephiroths around of late"
Next time I log on I'll try and find him so as to give more detailed information.
Diego Athral: Why, if it isn't Sephiroth! Or was it Sefiross? Sethirophx? xXxSephirothxXx? There are so many adventurers with similar names these days, it is so hard to recall them all.
Orrick near Bric-a-Brac in U'dah:
"While on the subject, my sources give me to understand that a plan is in motion to lay a magitek railroad across the wilderness. Should this knowledge bring you in wealth in the future, remember to whom it is you owe your good fortune."
Not sure if this was added recently or not, as its been awhile since I talked to this particular NPC, but I don't recall him saying it before. Nice to see already something in the game referencing that railroad we've seen in concept art and those gameplay shots.
It's from Unlike A Rolling Stone, which is a nice reference itself.http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...se-notice-this

Dunno If anyone posted already (too lazy to read)
Patch 1.23 SE put "Twelve's Stone" all over the world, each bearing their symbols.
-Lousoix is most likely "Thaliak, the Scholar" he bears the symbol.
-Gerolt is mentioned to portray the image of "Byregot, the Builder" by an NPC.
-Urianger is ??? most likely 7th Umbral Era's Rhalgr. (Wielding Staff of Bronze).
-Potential Archons are members of the "Circle of Knowing". (Wild Guess)
6th Astral/Umbral Era Archons:
-Ahldbhar - Rhalgr, the Destroyer
7th Astral/Umbral Era Archons:
-Louisoix - Thaliak, the Scholar
-Gerolt - Byregot, the Builder
-Urianger - Rhalgr, the Destroyer (?)
-Alfgar Uringar - ???
-Circle of Knowing - ???
Really, though, our Knowledge surrounding the Twelve is very limited.
What happened in the 1st Astral/Umbral Era, "what" are the Twelve?
What is their connection with "Good King Moogle XII"?
What is the so-called War between Gods mentioned in the "Moogle King: Lore ?
How do they reincarnate as an Archon in the "Mortal" World ?
Do they appear when the "Mortal World" is in Imbalance ? to bring balance to the world ?
I'm freakingly interested in them, sadly so few informations >.>
(Sorry for long post, and thanks for mentioning the Archons!)
