At the very end, just before the new logo appears it looks like a cluster of objects are flying away from the planet on the right screen side.

Actually, A Realm Reborn came out of the result of the worst scores and reviews by both fans and critics alike upon initial release. An old formula designed and inspired by an Everquest model of grinding for hours and hours, leaving no time for actual living your real life. WoW was fun and 11 million ppl prove that. I like having fun in my games, and if the standard is fun then that's fine with me cuz its better than what we had before.
Obviously, I'm complaining about the first trailer so why would I mean to ask that? Think before you comment. Your version of talking about the game is complaining about the community talking about the game.
I'm actually getting a bit of coherence from you here. You are right in saying that they need to make their own decisions and be on the cutting edge. And yes, there may be some silly comments and suggestions all over the place. But don't forget we are talking about SE's record of completely ignoring its community before, and they are just now catching up with other companies in communicating directly with its community. This is a strategy that will only benefit them as a company and keep the game successful. I trust SE's judgement for the most part, but they aren't pandering to the lowest common denominator because we are THE voice of their playerbase right now, don't degrade this forum. It is why this forum exists.Lastly, "we speak, they listen" is a really bad strategy for the devs to take. As they don't know who to listen to, since we all have varied opinions. How much to listen. When to listen. How to turn our varied, uneducated (in video game design) and silly comments into constructive ideas. etc etc etc
Im not saying SE should work in a bubble, they can see whats available out here. But simply pandering to the majority or lowest common denominator will not make their game a success. They need to be on the cutting edge. They need to define that edge with their own concepts and twists on game mechanics.
You just put yourself into the lowest common denominator with that statement.FF14 1.0 was not that bad; SP, Phy lvl/class level, optimal gear, complex crafting, mob ai, the concept of leves, etc. Some really cool ideas, but almost everything was broken, laggy and buggy. They listened to people who didn't want to see these systems fixed and instead wanted "mmo standards" and we got a watered down MMO. We will see what is left of FF14 in 2.0 as they try to make it an "easy transition for WoW players".
The first part with chocobo running gives me a FF Tactics vibe.
Everything is relative. You like WoW(instant gratification) some people do not.Actually, A Realm Reborn came out of the result of the worst scores and reviews by both fans and critics alike upon initial release. As they make FF14 less like an MMO and more like a "you win" button, you may enjoy it that much more. But Im pretty sure WoW players will stick with WoW and players expecting something different will... well who knows what they'll do.
WoW having 11million players does not make it fun for everyone, just the scum of the earth. (No offense) And Im really happy they have a game to play. I hope they stay there and fester amongst one another. I just don't appreciate when game companies copy WoW desiring the same fanbase. Ruins MMO's for the rest of us.
The girl adds a Galadriel feel to it. More in tune to western fantasy. This trailer is more .... accurate I think. The 'reborn' will be focused on PS3. We are the welcome wagon.
This is starting to look more like a race with CCP to see who can put out the first true MMO with a PC/ Console population. Will SqEnix get FF14 out first or will Dust514 and EVE take the prize?
If I had seen the first on TV I would have shook my head at it, simply because of the voice-over.
If I saw this one on TV, I would be curious about this game. Success, from my perspective.
First of all, I'm not going to have a WoW conversation with you. WoW had its shortcomings which is why I prefer Final Fantasy, but it also was a complete success. I think Final Fantasy deserves as much of that success.Everything is relative. You like WoW(instant gratification) some people do not.

Earlier, you said...
Here's the thing. You seem to be jaded about SE's ability to pull this off, while I believe they are doing exactly this already. So far they have stayed true to setting themselves apart and doing things their way. Just because they implement aspects of other games doesn't mean they are going to copy/paste another game completely. You are demeaning the developer's ability to make a true Final Fantasy game before it has even been released. All I can tell you is, don't be so pessimistic.
