Regional Servers? (Opinions please)

I prefer to play with my own continent instead of xenophobic Japanese who keeps saying "JP ONRY".
Anyone who says otherwise is obviously just a weeaboo obsessed with Japanese culture.

Who said that global is only toward Japan? It's a dang shame how people like to single out some country because of something like "JP Onry" I've partied with many of Japanese people and I haven't gotten any problems ever with them. =/ I don't see how wanting something global meaning like Australia or etc makes people weaboos, I mean that's very specific on what you thought "global" is (Not trying to start a flame war would like to keep this a clean thread) It's just really harsh just to single out one country =/

If they did it right they could have physical regional servers but then global logical servers. Then say Aegis is actually made up of two physical computer clusters one sitting in a datacenter in Japan then one in Los Angeles. Clients connect to the server they are closest to then SE has a very fast dedicated line from datacenter to datacenter to connect the two clusters and have them operate as one game world.

If it is true that this game is supposed to give PvP content that isn't "lacking" like other FF mmos (pretty much FFXI), then yes. I'm sorry but the complaints would be too often that it would be a bad idea not to do so.

At the very least they can just create regional servers and then global servers.

I am for regional servers. Those people that say that they won't be able to find people at X time of the day are forgetting one thing: Cross Server Group Finder.

Short Answer: No.

Long Answer: I would rather put up with extra latency then be on a regional server and have no one to play with. Yay, 50ms ping time... I wish someone else was on..... No. The experiment with Ragnarok already caused a lot of problems. Their server is quiet most of the time (good luck to someone there trying to play during non-peak hours). And it removed a fair bit of EU people from non-EU servers (making the EU population on those servers even less).

Regional Servers means Peak-Hour Servers, means if you are not playing during peak hours do not bother to play. Me, I'm here to play. Not complain about ping times. (FYI: I'm one of those people with bad ping times yet I still would not ask for regional servers).

Playing the menu is not fun. if you find it fun. you should not be playing ANY Massively multiplayer online role-playing game

I support regional if and only if the servers are hosted in the region that they're being regional for.

I prefer global servers myself, I have many friends located all around the world but I would give it up for the lower ping. Especially if PvP is coming.

Just make Regional / Global servers an option to players to choose and don't region lock the servers.

But just because theirs a "regional server" doesn't mean you can't go there unless it's IP/Region locked and even then theirs ways of getting around that.
I strongly disagree to region locking.

+1 to Cross Server Finder for those of your worried about finding a group at XXX time.

As for friends being scattered I'm sure they'll tell us ahead of time. If your more concerned about being with your friends than your ping I'm sure you'll choose their server over a lower ping and vice versa if your more worried about your ping.

I like the idea that I can play with Australia and Asia time people most of the time, then the European on the evening and the USA if I play super late or in the morning. Allows you to always find people to play with.

For the "Japan onry" well it's not that they don't want to play with you or are racist or anything, they just can't communicate with you out of the auto-system function which is limited. Might be ok for leveling parties but if need some strategy that they can't explain they won't bother. and you would do the same!

I am sure NAs also wants to do Garuda with players that doesn't speak english. Oh wait.. you don't, we just expect people to speaks english.
