@ bet DCUO has an action based manual attack system that is pretty easy and fun to use. So it is possible to have a dynamoc manual attack in an mmo. Idk keyboard side but for a controler side its pretty nice. Its set up like say mortol Kombat or soul calibur. You use the square and triangle buttons in combos while holding the think r1 and l1 with stcx buttons (square triangle circle x ) to use powers. I hated dcuo but I loved the combat.

And typically you don;t chat in the middle of a fight. 1/2 the time the battle spam will scroll anything up to fast.

Because for every problem this game has, the solution has already been implemented by another game.

So change basically translates to "make X feature like it is in game Y". And this is what fanboys hate the most.

I have to admit it, this thread made me giggle a lot. The FFXIV fanbase being resistant to change?
Isn't it the opposite? Many of the systems in FFXIV haven't been accepted by people because they are change from the usual stuff we've seen in every MMORPG in ten years.
If any, the ones that prefer to keep some of the current systems instead of scrapping every innovative point of the game and go back to the usual are the ones supporting change.

It's incredibly funny to see the OP accusing anyone else to be resistant to change, when he quite clearly wants the developers to make just another mmorpg based on the same trite systems we had to play for years, just with different art, story, music and environments (and title). This is, I would say, the perfect example of conservativism and resistance to change.

That said, wanting SOME systems to keep their innovation (IE: actually supporting change) does not mean resisting every injection of older systems as a support. For instance I don't care either way about auto-attack. Pressing the same key multiple times or letting the game do it for you, doesn't make much of a functional difference. But actually functional innovations like the armoury system need to stay, simply because they're what counters the utter boredom of playing the same game, just with different graphics and story, for several years.
They are change, maybe you shouldn't be too stubborn and resistant to it

I'm not really sure who the OP addressing here...

Most posts I've read seem to not only be in favor of changing the current game, but offering some really good ideas for doing so.

The one thing nearly all of them have in common is to make the game more FINAL FANTASY. Any change in that direction will be roundly celebrated by the fanbase.

    moving along...

"Final Fantasy" is as subjective as it gets.

But change is not, and it's hilarious to see the OP accusing others of resisting it, when he's actually the one on the conservative side

I think this has something to do with it. 10% - 15% of the people fighting changes are pure fanboys. Can't stop them from arguing against any improvements. The rest of us either want:

    1. A WoW-clone
    2. A GW2 clone
    3. An eve clone
    4. An upgraded FF11 clone
    5. Something truly innovative that dispells many of the tried, tired, boring, and behavior modifying systems.

There's useful innovations in this game?

    1. Standard combat system.
    2. Standard magic wheel system.
    3. Standard crafting system taken to a tedious extreme.
    4. They turned dailies into every other dailies (so pretty much the same).
    5. Copied every race from the last game.
    6. Combat classes are mostly standard (I like mixing the monk with the nuker idea)
    7. Crafting classes are standard.
    8. They took away the AH which is about as opposite of useful as you can get.

    I must be missing something.

I dislike WOW quite immensely, but it does have some incredible music.

Also, while the FFXIV people claim to be resistant to change, they will follow SE, Tanaka, and Yoshi-P to the death. Only after a decision is made will they support it, but they support it nonetheless. Every change that has been made thus far had been called by me since Alpha. I got flamed for calling all of these changes up until they were implemented. It is just the way of things. Yoshi-P knows that the only way to make this game popular is to appeal to the masses, not the tiny minority who currently enjoy FFXIV.
