Does using the Target Engaged Enemies Only option work? I'm reluctant to ask because by now, I'd assume you'd have tried every option under the targetting menu. XD
When all else fails, Heck the Bed.
There was a glitch once where someone was doing leves next to me and their mobs didnt appear. It looked like they were fighting air. Idk...I dont mind it, personally...it hasnt found a way to bug me yet.

while targetting is a problem, the main thing that kept killing us was the fact that there were so many mobs on screen all at once, our mobs in the back didnt appear on screen, so we kept inching forward...inching forward...inching forward (to cast our spells and then run)...and by the time the mobs appeared they were already agroed cause we were too close.
3 parties, 4 people per party
24 mobs per party (i think, havnt counted really, 3 waves of 8 i think?)
3 x 24 = 72 mobs + 12 = 84 total characters onscreen all in same very very small cave.
Max displayable character models is 40 right?
Not to mention the FPS drop from all the action going on in such a small area. I can rock about 45 FPS with all settings at high in uldah wards with 40 chars loaded up, but when you start to add in all the spell casting and such I was down to about 25, and I have a pretty decent rig so IDK what the rest of my pty was experiencing.
12G Ram
core i7 930 OC'd to 4GHz water cooled
3 GTX 480's in SLI (yes SLI does work just not fully, if worked fully would be 60 FPS everywhere no matter what im sure)
and the game is installed onto a 40G SSD and the OS is on a 60G SSD
