Seems to me that in Thanalan you need around 30 people for a successful (no lost balloons) run...

But in Gridania you can do pretty well with around 7 people. :x

I haven't done Limsa.. and don't plan to.. but if anyone's having issues I recommend taking a few friends to the Black Shroud.
    Hope this helps. <3

I tried all 3 cities. Gridania seems to have the fewest bombs and I think with 6 people you can beat it consistenly and get a full 20 ash. Ul'dah takes closer to 10-12 and Limsa I know you can't do with only 2. Haha.

My suggestion is to make a macro to make it easier on yourself, then you can all pick a place to stand and rotate. Or just move a little. None of that running around.

    Line 1 /targetnpc
    Line 2 /firedance

    Hi All,

We had the same success as what Nabiri mentions here:

If you're having trouble in Ul'dah, consider going to The Black Shroud / Gridania's Firefall Faire. We only needed 6 People to get the Full 20 Ash each win. It was fun and seemed more fair.

There were a few times we had only 5 people and still got at least 10 Ash (once 20), and the frame rate seemed to hold up better as well for me.

A few tips that might help with beating it:

    * Besides making the macro that people mention here
    /targetnpc
    /firedance

    * You don't have to wait for the Dance animation to finish, before spamming it again to hit another target (or the same one in the case of Bombard King), so that should save you time.

    * Sometimes, with Network Lag, etc., you won't see the actual results until too late, so I found it helpful to look at the Bombards themselves and the Mini-Map:

If you see a Giant "Flash" on the Bombard, you know someone else hit it with a Firedance emote, so you can move on immediately to another target. For Bombard King (needing 3 dances) if you see it at 33% Health and see it Flash before you get in a dance, you know it's dead as well, and you should move on quickly.

Also the Mini-Map will drop that particular "NM Icon" when it dies.

    * Lastly, if you notice you have a bunch of people standing in the same direction / area you are, then it's good to move and cover an opposite direction / area to help fend off those pesky Bombards. Helps to even out the dances and # of defeated Bombards better.

    Good luck!
