Regarding Treasure Chests and Their Drops

The rewards that treasure chests drop are so pointless that there is almost no point in having them. Who would hide a bowl of fish soup in a treasure chest anyway?

I while I understand the importance of not having anything too valuable hidden away in them, I think it would be kind of fun and interesting to have something like a set of purely cosmetic level 1 trophy gear drop with a really low drop rate or something. Would make coming across a treasure chest while I'm spending endless hours gathering slightly more exciting and make the whole process a little less stale.

Just a thought, with what they currently drop they don't have any purpose at all.

While I agree the reward can be underwhelming... they aren't completely useless.

Well to me the rewards are so negligible it isn't even worth getting off my Chocobo and taking the time to open one, and like Renen said they rewards aren't even worth the loss of gear space. I think it would just be cool to add a fun and rare reward to them. maybe like a pirate outfit or something, they are treasure chests after all.

After you do 100 leves, the rewards start to add up. Even if its 'only' 1000 gil, after 100 leves that's 100,000 gil! O.o

Even if its only junky equipment, after 100 leves you would normally have 5-10 'good' pieces that could sell for 20-30k each (another 100-300k o.o!)

I like the chests. I got a lot of potions and elixirs from them. I also think I got a Cobalt Cuirass from one level 40 leve chest....which was like "wtf sweet." Also some weapons/armor I wanted to buy but didn't want to drop the gil on (leather jacket and stuff).

As if the drop rate can't be bad enough on keys sometimes, I still don't even get the item when I actually get to open the chest. I get effing woolen tights and wand of tides EVERY TIME.

Square Enix, please make the coffer key a rarer drop and make the chest drop close to 100%. You can go to my history of killing and see that I've put so much effort into this one specific coffer NM and haven't gotten a single drop on the item.

....Sometimes I put stone soup in there. Variety is the spice of life!

I like the chests, sometimes you get something good, you always get a little bit of gil and you can NPC the trash for more gil. Keep em as is I say =)
