That's quite a generalization. Even though porn is quite visible (video stores, bookstores...etc) in Japan, we can't just conclude that "most JP" are sex addicts, or even more perverted than the average person elsewhere in the world.

If it wasn't for the gear's name I would have been somewhat more in favor of this thread, but since they say coliseum I can't help but excuse them for being flashy, since as the name implies they're "just for show".

It's like complaining about lingerie showing too much skin.

+ Compared other gear the defense rating is low on the coliseum stuff which makes alot of sense.

Nothing wrong with a bit skin here and there. I'm actually VERY surprised how many threads are on this forum of people who "feel" they are offended by a Half naked female body. But are fine when male toons wear it <3.

The mage bottom is actually comparable with others. 81 def vs 82 on felt gaskins for example.
Though if you wear robes that'll be nicely covered up.

And no I am not offended. I just feel it'll be sad if FFXIV has to rely on "sex" to sell this game like many Korean MMOs did.

Besides, "the higher you go, the less you wear" premise of some games is just plain silly.

...The mage coliseum gear is well...too airy...where do you even put 88 def on that thing?

I think since FFXIV should continue adding more sexiness to the game. According to a translation from JP mod, Colosseum gear would have been recipes, but they decided to add them as rewards first. I would like to see more sexy gear, and some sexy underwear, later on. Hopefully they have some ready for 2.0.

Well first off I'll say I don't think this thread belongs here... but moving on.

At least they were fair about it and made the men's version have the same look. They even made an excuse for it in the name as to style if after gladiator gear who were often depicted as being scantily clad also:



If you don't like the gear don't use it, it's not like there aren't better options available anyway. I mean, I guess your probably a woman and you're uncomfortable looking at a character with a perfect body in revealing clothing, but you shouldn't let it bug you so much. I'm a guy and It wouldn't really bother me that much to wear the gear, I'd just get into the mood of it and mentally pretend my dude is a gladiator or some shit heh.

Personally I love the new gear's look on female characters... but that's obviously because I'm male... but I bet if our male characters actually looked like this:
instead of creepy skinny guys who shave their body hair I bet we would hear much less complaining from the female community.
