The reason nobody cares is because:
Yoshi does not tell anyone what the game will be like. When he gets questions about what's great about the game, he will answer "it's a secret for now tee hee hee!" or "it's going to be VERY different, look forward to how different it will be!" and vague crap like that. It's hard to get people hyped for it with statements like that, and it's really the communities on those gaming websites which foster the demand for coverage, and if there's no demand, don't expect the websites to cover any news unless they get paid/bribed to.
When Gamescon comes around, I expect there will be more coverage on the topic, but it's hard to get the gaming community proactive in collating and collecting information when they are given nothing to care about.
