Reminds me of the prudes in my family. The avatar is just a polygonal mockery of a life form. It is simply a machine with a sticker on it mimicking the play of light through matter, nothing more, and I think it looks cool.
FFXIV is pretty tame compared to a lot of other MMOs out there. As a community, people asked for more sexy gear. They release maybe 2-6 pieces of sexy gear every few months (most of it not even that revealing), and then the prudes come out like an army to criticize the company and saying it is tacky exploitation.
Not only is it offensive to me morally that people can possibly even be offended by it in the first place because they are basically treating bodies like sexual objects that have to be censored, the lack of logic in the arguments I see opposing such outfits offends me.
The game is allowed to have a few sexy outfits you prudes.
I wonder if these people watch the olympics? There isn't an hour that goes by since the olympics have been on that I don't see a swimmer or a volleyball player or something doing what they do best, professional athletics. Oh wait! They're in incredibly skimpy outfits. Good lord. At a MAJOR INTERNATIONAL SPORTS EVENT?! Hide your kids, hide your wives! The obscenity is just insane!

The objectification, sexification, exploitation and overreactization of men continues on a global level. When will equality be realized?
PS: clearly this man is "tacky" fan service, as the fembots called it. No way he's an Olympian or anything.
Fuck me this post is still alive how? Seriously people. Move to a box with the lights off or move on.
He looks nude with that box there... Wait maybe he is nude! This is madness!
Everyone knows that bikinis in Beach Volleyball at the Olympics just desperate pandering to attract TV viewing audiences. Just look what happens when the girls try to keep warm for games.

My point was that a few sexy outfits in FFXIV is fine -- if implemented in a relevant context. (I'd prefer they were restricted to NPCs though, Any time you introduce something to the players in an MMO, multiply it's effect by 2000x).
Think of it like Cayenne pepper... a dash in the right dish makes things spicy and interesting, a cup of it added to everything is revolting.
Sidenote: Funny thing. We are all regularly bombarded with instructions to eat healthier, don't smoke, buckle-up, recycle, exercise, don't be judgmental, give blood, stop eating meat, don't bully, reduce our carbon footprint, don't text while driving, hate the rich/banks/oil companies, eat organic, celebrate diversity, support public eduction via higher taxation, etc.
Whenever this happens, people generally listen and agree (or not) and then peaceably go about their business.
However, if you were to suggest that dressing/acting modestly might be a good thing as well, most of those same people will become indigent to the point of rage at the idea.
Ever wonder why?

I know this is a game and everything, but, if my character was a real person and I sent him to fight something with that on, I think they would be pissed because of the lack of protection.
Too lewd? Not lewd enough.
