Press and player reactions to the new XIV

I don't see the need for this bickering but I hope SE takes note of the comments around the web regarding the announcement.

They definitely have their work cut out for them. At least there seems to be general opinion of:

1. No voice acting is better than bad VA.
2. Good gameplay can't be replaced with any amount of gloss.

they should make a trailer where they show 1.0 combat system and 2.0, the maps changes must be shown putting the current maps and the new map according to the zone, they need to show how interface was upgraded from 1.0 to 2.0, people that isnt playing must know all the stuff they did to improve it and give confidence even for us that the game will be the best we can get.

CGI has always been beautiful. Their CGI trailers before this game launched were beautiful too. I'm assuming they have more marketing in the works to show players it is not the same old game with a few new bosses added (like a patch). Instead it is a rework of the entire game, they need to push it out as a new game almost.

i feel that this trailer that the showed was really just a teaser trailer to begin with. they have showed some CG pictures that werent in that actual trailer which leads me to believe that theres going to be an extended version shown at the 25th FF anniversary event or sometime later. when it comes to peoples opinions. the majority of the people make all the negative comments are people who played the game for about a month when it first came out and still feel like their opinion on this game actually matters. Every one who comments on a game they havent played in over a year and a half really shouldnt be making bad comments about something they havent even experienced. Even now before 2.0 this game has made enormous changes and is 100% in the right direction. In my opinion as long as they keep the way they are going the game in every way will be a success. I think the pessimistic people will really have to step up and actually try it before their opinions will actually make an impact.

People only argue that this game is bad is because they've been told it's bad. And when they see that it got a "4" or w/e they won't even care to check it out. No matter how much SE tries..

With the launch of 2.0, I expect major gaming sites are going to review the ps3 version (and maybe the pc one as well), and when people start seeing the 8.5+ scores (which is what I'm hoping for ) then they'll check it out.

I think the only thing that is going to pique people's interest is the big hitting games reviewers giving a hands on review and subsequently a high rating score at the end.

I can imagine a side by side comparison of 1.0 and 2.0 over multiple pages followed by the score they gave 1.0 back at launch and their new score for 2.0.

Hopefully something along the lines of:

"Our previous score for 1.0: 3.5, Our new score for 2.0: 9.5 (Must have game of the year!)"

I agree with your comment. ^.^ I think if FF14 2.0 happen to attain reviews that far exceeds people expectations as it is now. It would pique quite a lot of interest within the MMO community, especially those nay-say'ers out there who are simply negative.

Though I do remember within an interview that it was claimed the battle system wouldn't have changed much from current FF14 to the new version. So I somehow feel the game won't be completely different, perhaps map changes and ui changes, and hopefully implement some meaningful systems like a proper Auction House t-t... I'd prefer FF11's auction house over FF14's version any day... and perhaps some form of PvP that comes in the form of duels and Guild vs Guild...
