If Uldah will truly be in ruins, it will most likely gain a revered status like Tavnazia in 11, only difference is that the first generation of players actually had the chance to experience 'living' in Uldah.
I can imagine in a few years when the Garlean storyline is wound up there might be a whole storyline to bring things full circle and restore the city states back to their former glory.

Nah, here's my real reason: because half the people that love Gridania's scenery are generally the kinds of asshats that take shit too seriously, then the fact these are often the same people that hate anything not green.
