I'm not saying I have a problem with having a few of them in FFXIV, I personally happen to like the mage one shown above and plan on getting it as soon as I have enough points to do faction leves.
But I'm not happy about the general direction this is going:
Players on too many hormones: Moar sexy gear, moar!
Devs: Okay let's make it, the players want it.
Most players: Oh it looks nice! I also missed bikini event now I can get at least SOME kind of bikini! Hey, why not give us more?
Devs: Here you have extremely short yukatas! Still want more?
(estimated) Player response: moar! MOAR!
...leading to the game being filled with only half naked cat girls in underwear or less who claim to be a "tank" with nothing protecting them but a tiny piece of iron fitted between their legs and over their breasts.
Not saying that's where we are, I just think the direction is dangerous.

The gear has very low defense and not an entirely great stat, they are mmostly fashion piece. Nobody that knows how to gear up will use it for battle. The direction serms rright.I'm not saying I have a problem with having a few of them in FFXIV, I personally happen to like the mage one shown above and plan on getting it as soon as I have enough points to do faction leves.

These are MMOs we're talking about. After playing games like AION I'm surprised we didn't have more gear like that aside from subligars and swimsuits. Chainmail bikinis are to be expected, unfortunately.

When I saw it... I want it.. not that I would wear it in town.. around many ppl.
still I like it for a "special" duo outfit with a close "friend" lol
and for use in mix and match. though I do agree with others that posted. it shouldnt be great stuff or take the place of real armor. I think it should have been event clothes set with little protection.
I'm 50 weaver and 45 leather atm because i like clothes and mixing them =^,^=
I do hope I get this set..

Long story short, Neomarl is one of those players that are unhappy no matter what SE gives them.If I don't get a swimsuit I'll flip my shit and complain until you give it to me, but give me an armor set, that's basically a re-skinned bikini with cloth tassels and I'll flip my shit about sexism, how men are all pigs wanting to look at pixellated prostitute equivalents and how evil SE is for giving me something I wanted in a different form.
*Bikinis aren't sexist but this armor set clearly is... LOLLOGIC*

I think they should have their fair share of sexy gear and normal gear. This is FFXIV, not Tera. If you can't handle the sexiness, go play censored Tera with the other 12-year-olds :P Otherwise, these armors aren't so bad, they are very different and unique. I don't see it as sex appeal, I am just really glad they they aren't re-skinned armor, which actually elects some value to them and a desire to get them.
Also very glad you can meld to them ;D

I, frankly, am saddened that prudes like Neomarl still exist. It's this kind if inane puritanism that made the devs alter the way Mithra sat in FFXI, because sitting fully clothed with their legs slightly parted offended someone.
If anything, the devs need to learn to stop listening to the player base on moral issues, they sacrafice their vision for an ultra-tiny percentage of the population and the cost in time and employee pay they spend trying to please these people isn't worth retaining a couple subscriptions of people who live with sheltered viewpoints.
You can always create those characters yourself. ^.~
