Eorzea too pedestrian?

One thing that has been disappointing about ffxiv to me has been the lack of societal complexity and inherent depth in the Eorzean culture. Walking around Eorzea and talking to the local population just feels so pedestrian and uncultured.

First you have Limsa Lominsa which is a nation full of greedy cutthroat pirates, who like getting wasted and starting feuds. Their election process would be the equivalent of American's drinking beer and electing the winner of NASCAR.

Then you have Ul'Dah which is essentially a bunch of hyper-capitalist traders who have no issue manipulating markets with force. Their favourite form of entertainment is throwing half naked people in a pit and gambling on whether or not they die. And they have a very popular miners guild full of strippers and hookers.

Next you have Gridania.... full of religious zealots who worship trees and branches, and elementals that like to KILL THEM. God forbid any outsider take one step into their precious forest. They go into full-out exorcism mode any time someone so much as touches a leaf, and spend hours "cleansing your woodsin"

Lastly, you have Ishgard. Somehow they are even bigger religious zealots than the Gridanians. Further they are completely racist towards dragons. I'm pretty sure if any dragons live in Ishgard they have to sit at the back of the bus and use separate washrooms and fountains (which is totally NOT cool).

Not to mention that all these nations seem to be 200 years behind technologically.

Further, there are no beautiful palaces, excessive public baths, grand works of art. No.. there are pirate ships, colosseums and trees....

So why are we supposed to feel bad that some civilized technologically advanced society wants to invade Eorzea? Maybe they might bring some culture and class to the uncivilized nations. God forbid we get some of those cool magitek technologies. Maybe a few palaces. A tower or two. Maybe even an opera house (although i can't imagine many residents of Eorzea being able to grasp the artistic beauty of an Opera).

Hopefully in 2.0 the empire will have control or quickly gain control and put an end to the pedestrian uncivilized nature of Eorzea.

This kinda reminds me of Spain conquerors in america... that beign true is thanks to it we americans now have tech and blah blah blah..... on the time of conquest it was horrible.
