it's not time travel in that sense it could even be considered as a cold sleep like what they did in FFXIII-2 or even in the movie idiocracy and fry from futurama. thought it isn't time travel in the aspect of the time machine it is still a method of traveling to the future but with no way of going back to the past.

It's in FFXIV's DAT files, so it will somehow be used later on in the game (Much like Titan)

The echo never allowed you to time travel, it only allowed you to witness events that already passed, or showed you a glimpse of the future, in no scenario where you able to time travel, and what that flashy trailer implied, is that #1 Out of the blue, you can time travel and #2 SE has the nole Syndrome where explosions >>> Story.

Yep. So unless Atomos/Cavernous maws will have a wildly different concept (unlikely) there's one explanation.

Gotta appeal to a certain audience that doesn't care for story after all, remember we're still in a generation of gamers who think graphics make the game.

Time Travel is not possible as Time does not exist. There is no passage from past present to future, as there is only the present. Past and Future only exist as ideas in our memories and hold no real existence beyond this. By their very definition they can only exist outside of actual existence.

This is true of all things, and cannot actually rationally or logically be thought of as existing unless you use a twisted vocabulary to in fact say that you went from one present to the present that your perceptions tell you is different.

The only kind of 'Time Travel' that is possible, is what everyone does every 24 hours or so (more if you're Yoshi-P). Other variations of this are possible and only require that your perception of the present halt.

That said, a meteor crashing into Eorzea, depending on its velocity and mass, could cause either very little damage or a whole lot of damage. Depending on the scale of the damage, it might be necessary that in order to save us and continue the fight, old dude in trailer could take us from Eorzea, place us out of reach of the danger, then bring us back. If we were not to percieve any of that happening, it would certainly SEEM like we travelled through time.

Also all of this is completely arbitrarily decided by the dev team. Arguing about it seems silly.

Wait, graphics don't make the game? (Mind = Blown!)

But in all honesty I love story strong heart pounding, suspense milking, plot twist hurling, Inception mind fucking story. Its why I love the Final Fantasy games to begin with. Its why I played FFXI for 5+ years. I just hope they don't disappoint with the ARR when it comes to story. I hope my lesser-primal imperial magitek summoner speculation is true god I want it to be true, if it is call 911 cause my heart will explode.

YES! Let's just duke it out over something as pointless as the literal term for time travel in an fantasy game. Or...or a better idea is just to play the game and say fuck it.

To be honest I don't think he is defending us, if that where the case the bubble he makes wouldn't have to be that big, I think there is something behind him that we are unable to see that he is protecting with his life. Personally I think the Primals are the ones that will us their powers to save us, It is well known that the Garleans are out to kill off the Primals because they have gotten in the way, and fear their power. Also I would not be surprised is Yoshi.P goes the Kefka rout and is using lesser primals to fuel their Magitek, since its stated in the lore that the Garleans have no aptitude for magic which begs the question, if they have no aptitude for magic how are they making magitek. This will lead to as a summoner you are freeing the lesser primals (Fenrir, Cait Sith Typhoon) and they in turn become your loyal companions. All I can say is that I am in anticipation with the sheer amount of possible story routs they can go not only for the biggest battle in FFXIV history but the bringing of the new classes.
Idk why ifrit would want to save us after being killed over 200 times by every player in this game. lol.

Whos duking what out? This is a discussion about a story element that everyone may or may not interpret differently. And a lot of the posts are well thought out interpretations on what each individual think. So whats exactly are you talking about?
