    It became more clear as I played around with the sheet. It says under cap because if you've got over 350 STR then each additional point in STR adds less total damage than each point did getting to 350. Does that make sense? So the sheet is only accurate if you have not reached the caps for STR and VIT.

    Taking everything into account, i'm gonna go way out on a limb and say that due to the gear restriction needed to get the full benefit of the LT axe, and having to get sanction for the sgt axe (both flame) a skirmish axe when triple melded with +attack (like 70 or more) is the second best axe in the game behind only the relic axe.

    If you don't believe me, enter the numbers in the sheet yourself and find out.


    What would be really awesome is if we could enter the numbers from all of our gear into a spreadsheet like that and really see what axe is best when paired with our other gear. Because as we all know, all gear sets are not created equal and will play into your total damage output.

    So even with extra STR, Ifrit still wins as far as damage output. I kind of expected that. But here's the thing: What about tanking? That's what I'm more concerned with since 90% of the time, WARs are tanking.

    To me, it's a primal-level axe with a slot where you can put +Enmity and +ACC materia on. It could have MogAxe level ACC and a nice, hefty addition of +Enmity.

    There's also the possibility of a Crit build. I actually want to see how a Crit-based Skirmish axe compares against others for DD.

    Not good, I tried adding crit attack power into the spreadsheet and it wasn't a huge increase. Based on the numbers you get from Heaven's Fist, a triple meld of tier IIIs and IVs would be best for straight damage output.

    Just remember there are multiplying factors at the top for how much acc, crit, and % of your damage comes from WS vs AA. Changing these (not sure if you can) alters all of the formulas.

    Atk is pretty much the biggest gain if your at stat caps.

    So I guess it's overall just better for tanking only by adding +Enmity to it.

    did you know the secondary stats on this spreadsheet are broken? it isn't factoring in any VIT bonuses.

    Yep doesn't seem to be factoring in. Not my sheet but you might be able to contact the author from my first post and ask him if he can fix it.

    Not sure why people are even debating if these weapons are better. They already said it's a hassle free weapons with 100% drop rate on chests and a pretty easy fight so obviously it's not going to be better than Garuda or your LT weapons even with double melds.
    But the sword for could be better for holding hate than anything else if you add double +enmity IV on it.

    You are so wrong. The axe is better than Garuda's with a good double meld. In fact, it's the easiest of the new weapons to make better than a Garuda weapon.
