Dont mis understand please, Im not trying to dis anyones build, but it confuses me as to where people get the motivation for such builds? I have seen damn near every chart that explains how DEF is broken and HP rules supreme , HOWEVER when doing the actual testing, none of those charts make any sense , except for one, in wich they did very minamal amounts of def increase to test , and where suprised to see that +10 def didnt take alot of sting off a HNM hit.... LOL, Enmity is a priority for a tank, but luckaly SE gave us enmity ablities that tie into proper stat builds, sadly we dont get the same ATK + boost from vit like war but I would imagine thats to keep from over powering PLD like they did war, reguardless, there is aboslutly no reason to neglect deffensive stats on this game for your tank.
Well to say Def/VIT is broken is a little misleading, it's more along the lines that D-level messes with Def/VIT's properties so sharply it either sets the defense needed to hit the point of diminishing returns either way to high or way to low.

But to be perfectly honest, even with my offensive setup the hit to defense and increased damage I took was relatively minor compared to the large boost my DPS received. In the same token all HP/Enmity setups likely have only partly defensive differences between someone who went all out Def/VIT, so it kind of defaces the overall value of Def/VIT and gives much more merit to other stats.

now , I certainly will not say that you could not have experianced what you said, but it has been my experiance that the amount of damage I mitigate is far more then mertiable in comapairson to the hp boost i could have gotten if my teir 4 materia was hp instead. when compaired to a triple melded hp set, my double melded def/vit set took roughly 30% less damage on both boss mobs and normal mobs (roughly 200+ hp points less per normal attack on boss mobs), every triple meld of teir 4 hp materia is roughly 180-200ish hp... I belive that most people dont see big dividens in thier def/vit gear when faced with HNMs /Boss mobs, simply because they have not stacked it with sufficient numbers, keep in mind with full pt buff and protect i run 900ish def , with food and other buffs I am well over 1k def, my vit is still just under 400, once I hit 500 vit, i completely expect CC's "100 TONZE" to hit me for triple digits instead of the normal quad digits. once I can do this, I will fraps and parse it, hopefully this will be suffice to prove that IF stacked to sufficient numbers DEF and VIT builds are super effective, I do understand , however, that untill I do this, there will still be strong critisim against a def vit build, wich i am ok with, But I would incourage anyone thethe gil power to do so, to test what i have posted, 1k def should be realtivly easy to attain with double/triple melds allowing you to add vit in other places, now attaining 500 vit is gona be a pain in the padded ass, lol gl.
