To spread awareness on this game, I think it would be a great idea if a trailer for the game was shown before the movie started at a theater. They do it all the time with some other games like Call of Duty and such.

You have no idea how super expensive that probably is. I doubt SE will have a budget like that to advertise a dying game lol

marketing is supposed to kick off next month.

there is a lot of negative hype around ffxiv right now. there was a lot of advertisement rigth before it first launched.

SE traditionally has not needed to do a lot of 'mainstream' marketing. they announce something and the fan base spreads it for them. (at least in the US)

there will likely be a lot of flare and promotions in Japan though.

Dress them up like Miqote wearing shirts that say "Final Fantasy XIV" on them. Have them jump up and down, roll around, and act cute for a 30 second prime time commercial spot. End it with a link to ffxiv's website. Watch millions of copies sell.
