Weren't they called yukatas in FFXI? I don't remember people griping about it then.Well to some of the JP community when they heard Yukata they were expecting traditional Yukata's and didn't think it was the newer gal fashion ones so that part like I said I understand where they are coming from but yeah lots of the posts on their is just repeat. One other suggestion I kind of agree is probably having the name changed from Yukata to Happi but then again the new fashion Yukata's are just like those in the image... so they are considered Yukata also?? that part I have to look up what's the difference between Yukata and Happi. I think Happi was made of one cloth while Yukata's require several layers of clothes... or something like that...

Yep it was Yukata in FFXI also and 2CH and other forums (since official forums didn't exist that time) did talk about same stuff saying it's giving wrong image to foreign players and those aren't Yukata's.... for me... I didn't care... I like it lol

I loved it also. The blue yukatas were really cool and wore them all the time as town gear. I don't know if it is a cultural thing, but even if the name isn't 100% correct, I don't think it should be escalated high enough that Yoshida himself has to calm them down. Just an observation will suffice and if the developers feel the same way, I am sure they would adjust it.
