That's a bit different. There is some clipping with gear but you need to consider that you won't have the same gear throughout the lifetime of the game. Whereas if your hair creates graphical issues that's something you'll have to deal with (potentially) forever.

You do realize how much they re-skin everything right? I do agree for the most part though.
