if you used a different IP just go to SE account and login from that IP adress then it will work again. it happened to me when i used my laptop & cell phone for internet. looks like it counts mac addresses too since it happened when you got a new laptop.

This is absolutely inexcusable.

well i would rather have my account locked then have it banned anyday or have my my character inventory empty.

The question is though does said people have access to his SE account now say if husband/wife gave id and password for their account to husband/wife that would be in violation of TOS or EULA

Do you use a security token? By popular demand SE started doing this, so if you don't like it blame everyone else, not SE. Using a security token should fix this problem, otherwise you should probably play this game on the same MAC each time or chances are you will run into this allot.

Granted it shouldn't matter but also se's a company that wants to make it's own money. He's/she very good if he's paying for 5 accounts instead of just saying f that and letting the kids and gf play on same account but that makes it less fun since they can't play together.

I believe once it's done you're fine, just once you add a completely new computer or something like that.

I agree with other posters; get the security token.

At least then if you are still being locked out you know you've chased the normal avenues down, and it's time to email SE a letter asking 'wtf?'

I am not sure why you would refuse to use the best security feature for your account that would also solve your problem. In my house, We use security tokens not because of problems like this, but because it is just smart and secure to do so.

If you are worried about people losing their tokens/getting them mixed up it is easy, put on a key chain or sticker to identify each one per person. (My husbands has nothing on it but mine has a keychain with angel wings on it)

Buy a packet of blue tac and stick the tokens to a set area (in our case we stick them to the base of our monitors each.

No mixed or lost tokens. Yay!

The thing here is that you can have only one token per SE account. So that one token would have to be used by me, my 2 kids, my girlfriend, and my other friend, that is how you lose a token.

Holy_Dragoon: Yes, that's the first thing I tried, and it didn't work. Then I tried it another 4-5 times with no success. My complaint wasn't getting locked out, it was the fact that the restoration of the account process doesn't work.

At that point then, I would be submitting a ticket. That sounds like a bug in their intended system. See if you can manage to get a live-chat with them to fix your account up. I had to do that once to get my account restored for FFXI after a long hiatus.
