"Best" Solo class?

if the target is weak to earth or wind elements, i have no doubt that WHM is tops, if it's not, then there are better options by far. I don't have a 50 PLD, but from what I've seen, I think that would be my choice. I have to admit tho, my experience so far with solo WHM blows away my expectations, it's so balanced in most situations, that with a little focus on MP management, there's very few things you can't handle gracefully on your own. I use a very heavy HP + Vit setup double meld parts + GC parts and AF boots for solo, with focus on Earth element. I love it.

PLD dps is so low it removes them from the effective solo category.
Although a PLD can take on most mobs, they are so slow at killing them it's not worth it.

And yes, whm is very effective.
With a decent setup just spamming stone you can out dps melees.

Very very true. I use Con, not Whm, but it is a very well made independent Class. Especially for a Healer.

The Goal of Soloing isn't always killing fast. If you are trying to Survive the Journey and you have to do it alone, PLD is Definitely the way to go.

that's exactly how i feel about it. priority is surviving the fight, with mob dead, you alive. imo PLD can do that very well. killing fast isn't as much priority as winning the fight. I'm impressed with what I've seen from some PLD's, I still don't get why people sandbag the job. I'll admit again tho, I have not played one, so I'm sure there are things I don't understand about it.

Perhaps you haven't compared PLD vs WHM yet.
Solo a 55+ mob with PLD, then do it with WHM and you'll see there's no reason to waste time with a PLD.
Or you can do GC leves to compare the difference.
Better yet, take a PLD as far as you can into a Beastman Stronghold, then try with a WHM.

The role of PLD is to tank, and that's it.
For a job to be effective at soloing it means it has to play all aspects of combat by themselves, and do it well.
WHM has better DD than PLD
WHM has better CC than PLD
WHM has better cures than PLD
WHM has better AoE than PLD
WHM has better buffs than PLD


I honestly would like PLD to be a better overall job, but at this point it's just not.
Best solo job right now is a DD geared WHM.

WHM cleared GC leve "Back in Back" in 3:13
If Paladin can do it under 7 mins i'd be surprised.
Most jobs struggle to get the under 5 mins exp bonus.
