In-game marriage, will it make a return?

Oh god... As nice as it would be, the booking/costs of weddings in XI made me stay away from it.

it was cheap 50-150k in ffxi ya sure that was a lot early time but i still could make that much within few days of farming.

I would love in game marriages to make a return attended one for a friend at stupid o'clock in the morning one time, and it was amazing.

It makes me smile to see at least two comments from people whom got up early to attend a FFXI wedding. I remember having to take off work once, and wrote "fake wedding" in the excuse form. It was amusing to see my boss' reaction when I turned it in (got approved still).

First I didn't wake up, I just stayed up till about 5-6am, just to remove confusion and second that's awesome, I think you got lucky with your boss, personally I would have accepted it but a lot wouldn't.

Agreed but you know they can't win with this decision. No matter which way they go with it people will complain and rage like crazy.

On the topic of the actual marriage, I think it's a nice idea for those interested. I'd support its inclusion in the game.

And by the same token there's less important stuff they could be working on. This one's not completely useless like most of the suggestions here and would actually add a bit to the game for some people.

I think they should add a wedding hall in all 3 cities, but the most expensive/ gorgeous one of all should be the hall in the Holy See of Ishgard! The whole city should celebrate the event with fireworks/ confetti/ lighting as some people suggested, and flower decorations (multiple themes that differ in price?) all around would be nice. People who attend could put gifts/ gil in a treasure box somewhere for the married couple (like a loot list but only accessible by both of them).

There should be multiple outfits for both couple to choose from (again more expensive = more gorgeous) with multiple colors. There also could be parades with the couple on a chocobo carriage going all around town with "Just Married" on it!

Would be nice if even you could send invitation cards through moogle mail! Maybe even to certain NPC's like the GC leaders (but the wedding has to be very expensive to be able to invite them )

Lot's of ideas come to mind ^^ but sharing stuff might not be the best thing in the long run...
Oh and divorce should be added too...

I think it would be fun to have the option of in-game weddings, eventually. Not that I think they should start working on it now, get the major issues "fixed" as much as possible before delving into something like weddings. ^^;

While the idea of a bonus for married couples is great, I have to agree with the folks saying that no gil/items should be merged.
I remember a couple different girls in FFXI who would just throw their ring away in order to be able to get married again and again.
Of course its just a game, but I feel like that type of behavior really cheapens the whole thing.

Niqote, you have some great ideas! I really like the hourglass idea & the firework coming out of the invitation. There are so many cute things SE could do to make an in-game wedding creative, special and fun.
Oh and a super pricy and difficult "divorce" quest, too haha! love it!

Maybe there should also be an "engaged" series of quests that the couple has to complete together in order to even apply for a wedding? :3

Nabiri, the same thing happened to me! Well, just once. I had a friend who I did almost everything with in-game & one day (after we had a little tiff even lol) he proposed! Then he quit like a week before the wedding and left me to explain to all our guests that the wedding was canceled -_- that sucked! Though he did call me IRL to apologize. XD

Perhaps if the husband or wife quits the game any marriage status associated with the remaining character would change to widowed or widower for a set amount of time before that person could re-marry, if they really wanted to.
