In-game marriage, will it make a return?

Hey, while SE is shooting themselves in the foot by taking polarizing positions on RL hot-button issues... maybe they should introduce in-game abortions, a Palestinian state, commentary on public sector union benefits, carbon taxes, austerity programs, and Burka bans. /sarc

Ungh... I totally forgot about the SSM issue before, If there ever was a reason to NOT put marriage in the game, the SSM issue is definitely it. The drama that will erupt will likely cause many people on both sides of the issue quit this game.

LISTEN UP SE, if you don't want to have a lot of THIS your game, then stay as far away from marriage as you can.

They don't have to take a "stance" on the issue either way, they could just not specify any gender requirements.

I'm sure they will see that same sex marriages happen. Their business is to cater to all audiences alike. If majority want this to happen, SE learning the hard lesson of pleasing their customers from past experiences, I don't see why it won't happen. Hopefully with some improvements from FFXI system, which all in all I loved. Will be exciting to have this back in the game, was a great experience from XI!

Marriage in a video game just seems kind of odd. Although, given the choice might do it just because the option is present but really, what does it matter. At the end of the day, you'll still be in a relationship, strait or not.

Also, say same sex couples do get that option of marriage. It better be fabulous. Just saying.

How about taking that one step further and adding a family system? Each family would have a family name that replaces a character's original name.
