Its how the lore carries on between 1.23 and 2.0 it only makes sense to see Dalamud blowing Gridania up in the opening cut scene, and I don't think they should let anyone miss Gridania getting blown up

I can see it now, perhaps an automatic timed cut scene just before servers go down for 2.0 maint (re-watchable for all legacy members after 2.0) with Dalamud getting near, and what ever it will do happens, then a message "To be continued at the launch of version 2.0) ahhh cliffhangers, you know you all love em.

Some valid points in OP but I think the open cinematic for ffxiv set the stage for The Echo, guildleves, primals, the garlean empire, and the dragon horde etc., all at the same time. And so in that respect it did well in establishing a premise for the gameworld. It didn't really have a lot of dramatic tension, but it wasnt a total failure or anything. Actually, I think it was quite good, and some people probably remember it much more vividly than the FFXI one.

Besides, it's way too late to make some request like this as though something we say now could change the course of their CGI development plans.

There was also nothing really wrong with the original anyway. It seems like a waste of their time to even remake one, if you ask me.

I realise that, but saying "make it more dramatic" now - at this juncture in time - is futile unless they were already considering that beforehand. And I maintain that they shouldnt have bothered making this new intro movie in the first place (which is again a futile thing to say because it's too late now, but hey, if they want to waste their money making a new intro movie which people will spend 0.000001% of their gameplay watching, then so be it). Still seems like a waste when they already have a movie to begin with. Why make two?
