Quoted for TruthThe direct result of that will be...each server will be a ghost town for each of their respective non-primetimes. I'll choose "activity I don't understand" over "no activity at all" any time, all the time.
Ragnarok is indisputable proof that segregated servers don't work. It is the only server that needs a hamlet point adjustment.
Except that who cares if your server in inactive when you're not playing as long as it's active when you are playing. Faulty logic is faulty. Also they can just adjust hamlet points across all servers as the total amount needed has absolutely no bearing on your "fun", "immersion", or any of those other silly words people throw out that they don't understand really. The number the supply rating increases at is totally arbitrary as far as anyone's concerned.
Also, Ragnarok didn't work because tons of EU chose NOT to transfer there to begin with. If they all had, that server would be living proof of how it does work. SE gave them a choice, a good one at that, but they resisted to "preserve server communities". What a crappy concept!

Stuff sells in wards, progress is made towards GC quotas, population of zones is spread out over time, instead of thirteenhundredthousand folks trying to farm the same thing at the same time... it's not necessarily a bad thing, yaknow...
The only benefits it seems are a)playing with people around the world b)the slim chance of a pickup party with people who don't speak the same language during your region's off time, and c) stuff selling while you are at work/school/sleep.
Ultimately the decision comes down to what the Japanese want.
Hello all,
Let me see if I can sprinkle in some facts and thoughts:
1) It is very common for people in EU to speak English (especially nowadays with 'global' market). So you can often see German/French/Spanish people speaking English or at least able to get by.
2) It is not very common for people in Japan to speak English. They of course study it and have some grasp of it, but they do not use it as frequently as EUers and therefore tend to be less comfortable with it. Of course there are exceptions, but this is the more 'norm'.
3) Learning another language is not easy. Being able to communicate effectively is hard. Trying to do it when you are tired or just want to relax is even harder. Nothing more than this should be read into ones ability to speak (or not speak) English.
(On a side note: Almost every country in the world (Even North Korea) now appreciates 'English' as a valuable skill to have so it is not something that most people would 'avoid' having if they could have it).
Now on to the matter of Segregation.... my thoughts are we should go the OTHER way... MORE people from MORE nations all living together on server all the time. Why?
1) Always nice to interact with people from different culture.
2) Always nice to have a 'world' that is active 24/7
Imagine if it was EU only server. It would be busy 6 hours a day and dead the other 18 hours. Nothing gets sold in the wards, if you log on at 'odd' hours you will find no one to be play with. That can't be good.
If it's a global server, then it would be busy 24 hours a day. Things get sold in the wards all the time. If you log on odd hours or play really late you will still find people.
By cramming more and more people from around the world onto one server it increases the chances of you finding someone to play with. This will be mitigated to some extent with Content Manager (one of its reasons for existance?) but imagine if we could have that same fun but be on the same world together.
I have to wait until all my kids are sleeping to play...10pm PST+ every night... No one (very few people) will be on if servers are segregated....Happened with Aion...sucked big time.
frankly I don't want to play the Japan fan-by cards but if I could not play with Japs, I would probably never find a party since they seem to be the only one using the Party Search system.
without the japs I would probably still soloing/levequesting

so why do we have feedback forums? it's not a token gesture by the devs. our feedback gets routed back, but because it must be translated the NA Devs must 'pick their battles' a lot more carefully. you may think of it as 'what the Japanese want' but that just makes you come off as intolerant again. you have this image in your head about how they are doing things, when you really have no idea. I'd venture you have absolutely no idea how a japanese company works or how they do business. The only benefits it seems are a)playing with people around the world b)the slim chance of a pickup party with people who don't speak the same language during your region's off time, and c) stuff selling while you are at work/school/sleep.

you're just impossible. no wonder no-one wants to play with you, you're a big grump. every single time I've interacted with the japanese player base i've had a good time. EVERY SINGLE TIME. the last couple days i tried to play exclusively with the JP player base just to see if there was really any meat behind your argument that we should have segregated servers. I did a couple of toto-rak and darkhold runs. all went pretty smoothly.
seriously, use the resources i provided you and you'll have a good time. stop acting like a jerk-off and people will treat you better.
provide some real constructive feedback for the auto-translate function and that will get the devs attention. whining and crying because you can't play nice won't.
i'm done with this thread. you keep acting like a kid, so take your ball and go home. when you can learn to play nice we can talk again.
Have you not seen the autotranslate suggestion thread that falls off the front page within 5 minutes of someone posting in it? Oh right i'm the only one posting in it. Don't put this on me, blame the community. Also, google translate for the win:
"Ham defense will continue. About three races. Recruiting people who do not cry also be concave. A class 2 white @"
Also Oni, please stop blowing this out of proportion. The only jerk-off here is you because you are the bigot - COMPLETELY INTOLERANT OF MY OPINIONS AND BELIEFS. - Just because I don't agree with you doesn't mean I am wrong or a troll.
EDIT: Don't kid yourself. The only way NA EU DE FR opinion ever outweighs JP opinion is if it's unanimous against JP.
