Just remove leveling altogether if it's such a hindrance.

If we're to view leveling as a hindrance, then let's remove it altogether. (Yes, a question in the form of a statement: why not remove leveling if it's viewed as a hindrance? If the game cannot start pre-cap, making everything pre-cap useless, then anything up until the cap is useless, meaning having a leveling process is useless, which begs the question as to why we don't ask it to be taken out.)

P.S. Just because you don't enjoy a certain item of interest doesn't mean those that do are any less legitimate.

Despite the fact that I do enjoy the idea of a level-less MMO.
This was an unescessary thread split, Dragon. Do please contain yourself, there is no need to go splitting threads like this with such a shallow argument.

Fact: cannot be done unless in a FPS or PvP-exclusive setting. By leveling, I would mean some sort of meritocratic system. No matter what PvE MMORPG/RPG you try to throw out, there's a grind similar to "leveling" going on.

Unnecessary to you. I want my question legitimately answered.

Just because it's not supposed to be 90% of the game doesn't mean it's a hindrance. The leveling process exists for a reason but it does not need to be obnoxiously long. When we consider that 50 was never meant to be the final cap and will be raised at some point in the somewhat near future, reaching 50 "quickly" isn't an awful thing. Let's not forget that quickly is a relative term and we have no idea how long that necessarily is. Sure hitting 50 won't mean as much to those who gain satisfaction from it but eventually it shouldn't as it won't be the cap anymore.

Simple fix: add weapon skill levels into the game. It'll stop people from burning through levels, unless they want to be level 50 with the skills of a level 10.

I sure as hell would love to have skill-up parties like XI had...I felt like I was working toward something that wasn't a major thing!

Leveling is not a hinderence except to those who are completely lazy and full of entitlement

it serves its purpose, but some people just HATE not being able to do everything from the get go

these people are better off in free to play(play to win) formats where they can buy massive exp boosts to cap out quicker

Leveling is a sign of progression and rather than eliminate it they should introduce means to obtain skills from other classes rather than havign to level said classes.

For a perfect example Chameleon is pretty mucha lv 42 ability that's a staple of BLM to use so that they can dish out heavy damage then shed off a good chunk however it's lv 42 which means you HAVE to level ARC to 42 to obtain it with is just annoying and tedious.

If it were up to me and I do keep saying this but they need to reintroduce Guild marks into the game.
    Gladiator:
    04/Rampart------200 Gladiator GM
    10/Savage Blade-500 Gladiator GM
    14/Flash---------750 Gladiator GM
    18/Shield Bash---1000 Gladiator GM
    22/Sentinel------1500 Gladiator GM
    26/Flat Blade----2000 Gladiator GM
    34/Outmaneuver-3000 Gladiator GM
Gladiator Training-2500 Gladiator GM (Fulfills the lv 15 requirement for job quest)

Basically rather than say "let's remove levels" think of how can we adjust it so obtaining skills from other classes isn't tedious and unnecessary. The reason why I keep brining this up is because what happens when the level cap is lifted and their abiltiies past 50 that can be cross classes? Now you have a lv 15 PUG with an uber good skill at lv 55 that you HAVE to have for your MRD/WAR if you want to be useful otherwise you won't be able to be useful in parties. SO now instead of focusing on MRD/WAR like you want to you have to spend a week or so taking your PUG which your dread to 55 just to obtain the ability you NEED to be a MRD/WAR.

I wish one of the devs would respond to this idea because I really do see this as an issue later on for those who may not want to level x class just for a skill they need since they aren't playing the way they want to play, they are being forced to play a certain way to obtain a skill they NEED to use the class they want to play.

This also goes for DOH to I hope they introduce a means to obtain craft abilities rather than having to level the craft since as it stands now in order to be a crafter with the highest HQ rate you pretty much have to get every craft to 45 at least so that you have all the options available but by doing that you create a situation in which one crafter can pretty much do everything because the game designed itself in such a way that even if I just want to be a Carpenter I'll end up being everything because in order to give myself the best chances at HQ I HAVE to level other crafts.

Aside from how no one is talking about 50 about being the end-all/be-all cap... well considering it's easier to get 30~50 than 1~30, it's not a good idea to have an inverse leveling curve. But now that we've received word that "
"In 2.0 you can reach level 50 in short period of time..." rather than it being fixed as originally promised...

Oh look, we have a new Rokien.

How about waiting for a legitimate dev answer before flipping shits over an unofficial translation from Reinhart, who has admitted in his own thread that his translations are not 100% accurate?
