Once you figure out how to approach the battle and have a good tactic, it becomes a routine, nothing more (sure i was impressed by odin and it was sloppy the first time, but after 2-3 more times...it was just like another Kirin lol).

All FFXI took was planning (good tactic, items, people who knew how to organize, etc...basically be prepared and focus on doing your job in battle), with that...pretty much nothing was "hard", challenging...sure at times, but as i already said, once you "figure it out" and everyone know exactly what to do, it's just another battle (talking about times before cop nerf and cap raise above 75 too, excluding AV which was mostly haxed anyway).

Good planning (and sometimes testing) was important, that's it.

    And...?

Yeah if you can kill something 3-4 times then obviously you know what you're doing and can do it again but the game in general was a lot "harder" than XIV. If you don't want to use the word hard than I don't know what else to use but "more effort intensive". Claiming Nidhogg wasn't "hard" you just hit a button but the luck and commitment it took to get an E body for yourself is x10000 what it takes to get anything in this game.

Also, it took a lot of time for stuff in XI to be figured out completely. It's not like people went from spamming aspir on Kirin until it ran out of MP to zerging it down in a minute and 2 seconds.

    And what?

    My response was to:

And simple as it is...Odin isn't/wasn't hard.
Road to Odin is also not hard, just takes time, that's all.
I'm not saying FFXI is easy or hard...that's subjective and yes, XI is (or was) "harder" than XIV currently is...because it takes A LOT more time to get anything, but it's by no means hard.

Words i would use are "more time consuming" because, as you said, it took effort and commitment, definitely not hard.

Sigh....nothing to this dude is "hard" unless its impossible: IE: AV

I was part of 4hrs Kirin's and also part of Zerging him down in 1min. Took about 2years.

Aspir Spams, SMN Spams, RNG Spams, BLM Spams, then TP Zergs... It took a lot of testing and figuring out. But I agree this game is a joke.

Nothing in 11 could be duo/trio if it was considered "end game". You can duo/trio every NM in this game with the right people/setup. Hence XI being way more difficult. and yes, "hard".

    Incoming tl;dr:

I was on Alexander, played Rivian with one of my mules named Naivir. Played nearly 7 years with no fake quits and/or epic comebacks, from the January after NA release to OB of this.

My very first LS was "The Guardian Forces" from some dude in the dunes. I then moved on to something else that i forget the name of with a couple called TLC and Funkyone, along with Arett and Corpsehacker that i can remember. I then got invited to another LS while leveling a SJ or something in Qufim, believe the leader was Serendib (who quit or got banned at some point and came back late in the game as another character). I was also in Omnipresence led by Quasar for Dynamis around that time. There may be another LS in right here that i'm forgetting, but eventually the LS i was in split and some ppl made Makoeyes (I remember Cassio) which i eventually got in to, did a little sky and some Dyna i think. Then i joined Distortion (original, there was another ls with that name near the end of my time) which was a sky LS that dominated led by Darksniper (lol6percentfaster << Alexander joke).

Around this time, i had become friends with Mateo who made an LS called BabyDragon. I joined them because of my Summoner, the LS was made completely of SMNs and BSTs with a couple BRDs and WHMs. We farmed Tiamat and we all got rich off of dividing gil from selling Heralds (we were the only ppl that could kill Tia at that point, iirc.) We also farmed Jorm with the same strat until the update that made mobs depop outside of their spawn area, making BSTs rabbits pulled up from the bottom disappear when released instead of regening their HP back up. This is the time i began leveling DRK and working on Ragnarok (which i never got past stage 3).

When that ended, i got in with Ryna et. al.'s JenovaReborn and did a pretty long stint there until i had an argument with one of the more recent (according to how long i had been there) leaders (Tooka) and got booted lol. Met my good friends Shiniki and Saisio in JR i believe, maybe earlier than that. I also did Dynamis with Kappy's/Tanag's Kyte at some point in there. When Kyte failed, i joined HGPark, later to be known as Rear which was Claimed's Dyna LS. After being in Rear for a while, i was invited to Cheech's Claimed and stayed with them for years until shortly after the level cap increase when i decided to level all my jobs to 80 instead of camp the same boring ground NMs 3-9 hours a day. I did not have a real LS when i quit XI, was technically still with Rear though.

My fondest memory i think was killing Vrtra. It was a joint effort between JR and Quasar's Omnipresence (which was mostly a social/event LS at that point, i believe). We used the kite around the room strategy with SMNs in the corner, Blood Pacting on each pass. I was one of the lucky ones to be in the alliance and so i got the title. We never killed it again after that but everyone there deserved the title. We were ridiculed by the bigger LS's at the time who hadn't/couldn't kill it (mainly Welt's Claimed, lol). I never got to kill AV or PW, sadly.
