Can FFXIV 2.0 top Final Fantasy VII?

Wada wants to surpass FFVII's quality? I thought they did that with Xenogears, I mean unless I'm mistaken in thinking Squaresoft was the developer of Xenogears.

But then again, quality is generally relative in reality...

I think he means just in comparison to other Final Fantasy's.

Final Fantasy is currently in a tight spot right now. It will take FFXIV 2.0 and FFXV to show that the series is back on track like it should be.

Other titles are not too much to worry over. Dragon Quest is still on a roll right now, still releasing critically acclaimed titles in the main series. Might change depending on how DQ10 goes. Yuji Horii is working on the game, so I do believe everything will be fine and SE knows the community won't accept half-ass in MMO's.

Yes, i dont remember spending that much time playing FFVII after i beat completely than what i gave to FFXI to only get 2 jobs at 75 and a few main quest. And i've been here since release of this game.

So thats why this game will be far better than VII just for having long term objectives and being able to play in real time with other people.

I know I'm late, but WHY the heck are we comparing a single player RPG (a genre that will by default have more overall players than an MMO) to an MMO?

People tend to cling on to what they grew up with, and the
older you get the more you miss those old "Awesomesauce moments"

I liked FF7, but not as much as i liked FF5 & 6 where you actually had alot more options
to play wich class you liked etc, its the Godfathers of FFXI & FFXIV.
(Incase some of you reading this never played 5 & 6)

This. VI and IX were far better, imo. Heck, even VIII with all of it's flaws was more enjoyable than VII for some reason.
