As a former XI player i can't say this has me too interested. While new expansions are always exciting, IMO Treasures of Aht Urghan was the last GOOD expansion. Wings of The Goddess was a Boxed expansion with Campaign on it. That was it for like 6 months, even then it took over a year to get the story out. The 3 mini expansions played out more like fanfictions rather than canon story arcs. Abyssea had potential that completely eliminated some of the base gameplay that made FFXI great (i.e parties). What really killed the experience for me, was that with so many story hooks left by ToAU and WOTG about the expanded world (The Far East, The Western continent, the Mithran Homeland) We got 4 expansions in a row that had NOTHING to do with any of that.

I think that adding Geomancer is cool, but it won't be the same because no one is going to learn the ins and outs of the job like in the old days. People are gonna plop a Geomancer in Abyssea and power level it to 99. 2 Weeks will be spent on data mining before the "accepted" way to play it will be posted up, and it'll probably being the new loldrg/lolpup.

Sorry to rant. Some my best gaming experiences ever were on XI. It's why I'm a XIV player now. But the time to let it go has been well past due. I'm looking forward to 2.0, and the possible new jobs, races, areas and experiences it's about to bring.

P.S: Geomancer WOULD make since in XIV due to the positional battle system. But I'd take XI's Dancer over Geomancer any day. Also, Aren't we supposed to be getting Musketeer?
