    Yeh FFXI was known to be very cookie cutter. My main was DNC and I was forced to play WHM instead for 99% of things..it was silly.

    I think the issue a lot of people have atm are they want to be able to log in and do stuff with pick up groups. I remember in XI nearly everything could be done with pick up groups...the only reason why people made statics was to have a set time that worked for everyone and to work out drops. But the content on the other hand could always be done with pickups..that is what made XI so great and easy to meet new people/make friends.

    In XIV I am finding if stuff is not done with the same group of people it is constant failure and wiping due to these things being so unforgiving. Everyone I know has been saying "Yeah I am never doing stuff with PUG again, its just wipe after wipe"

    So while people certainly do not mind doing some work to get their stuff..like level up a job, gear it up, learn to play it, etc...when it gets to the point where you can't log in, invite random people and do a fun yet challenging event the drive to continue playing diminishes. This is exactly how I feel. I would LOVE to play the stuff this game has to offer but after countless PUG wipes I give up and just craft until 2.0

    That is probably because FFXI is a very easy game content-wise lol, however they also have tough content or at least requires much more strategy like Salvage, in that case you don't see alot of pick up for Salvage do you?

    Not from the NA side at least, much like in XIV you see a lot more JP PUGs for stuff than you do NA.

    Oh I see your point However I have done many salvage pick ups successfully, I was surprised tbh lol I would have thought wipe on the boss but I actually had more luck with joining shout groups for salvage then with statics >.> I loved FFXI content balance though..how it had hard stuff that can be done with pug and then high end HNM with LS

    The reason I am 100% sure you didn't go dnc because XI didn't do weapon dmg right, MNK had the same problem they would do 0 dmg to a lot of stuff, Daggers was just a weak weapon. While class stacking did happen in XI it still more flexable. Don't have a whm ask an SCH or RDM to heal, A BLM didn't show up you could ask a well geared SCH to nuke. No SAM's? DRKs and wAR do just fine with dmg.

    I wouldn't mind melee on bosses if Se gets this stupid thing out of thier head that Bosses should have 5k AoE dmg ws shit that will slightly make the fight harder and end up punishing melee out in the long run. A lot of bosses in Xi didn't have retarded herp derp Aoe that one shot everyone.

    Yup, I agree 100% >_< Class stacking in XI was way more flexible. I quit XI because of how cookie cutter abyssea made it..but I realize now XIV is also very cookie cutter ; ;

    I have to agree with those telling you to go help someone. This isn't the WoW community where everyone does stuff on their own until they can't anymore. To me, the FF community has always been extremely helpful and to be part of it you must do the same. I try to assist someone during every one of my game sessions, and in return I always have someone offering to help when I request it.
    If you're having problems meeting requirements, start back at the beginning with someone and help them. I almost guarantee that they'll offer help, if not join you, to meet those requirements together.
    I swear, some people have forgotten what it is to play an MMO. It isn't meant for single player experience, exclusively.

    Not really topic related, but Voidwatch AoE's can pretty much wipe the whole front line if temp items aren't up.

    Though to be fair, XI has a lot more available classes/jobs than XIV does for combat at the moment. I think if we had just as many classes/jobs we'd see that kind of flexibility. Fortunately or unfortunately we've only really got enough to cover the basics and a little extra.

    Agreed on the melees getting punished by AoEs though, that shit needs to stop. I hate it when people don't want me on Monk when it's a perfectly viable part of the team.
