He is excited to try Diablo III; What's wrong with that? We are talking about someone who has come out and blatantly said that the code for XIV is horrible and causing a ton of limitations.

Him liking a game not made by the company he works for, and being open with the community of this game (which is equally as excited for Diablo for the most part), really isn't a crime. Much less an indication on the direction XIV is going to go.

People who create games are inspired by other games every day, MMO's suffer from uninspired copying for sure, but what exactly in Diablo could XIV benefit from? Diablo is not an MMO, do not mistake games with online functionality for MMOs.

Diablo's systems work for it as a game; none of these systems could work for XIV (an MMO).

Because I used to be the same way.

He just doesn't know how to properly evoke his actual fears, which I honestly feel are ill placed.

Now, even if he is trolling, what do you think the proper reaction is? Play his game? act mad and declare him a troll without addressing his view, or drop personal attachment and take the issue head on and move away, no questioning of character involved?

Ultimately Diablo 3 is a pretty big disappointment to me. Diablo 1 was one of the first rpgs I ever played but D3 just makes too many compromises and departs from the original source material in too many ways, be in art style, storytelling, achievements, narrations, quest system, etc. Never has a game made me feel so awkward. Sometimes I'd feel like I enjoy it, and other times I would hate it. Now I'm just like meh, buyer's remorse.

FFXIV though was a non-functional-no-content-having-turd at launch. While it was still possible to derive fun from D3, FFXIV at launch seemed like it was trying to do whatever possible to keep me from having fun.

for all that is holy i hope any of the shitfest that is Daiblo 3 doesnt influence him. Blizzard completely ruined diablo. FF14 at its release was still a much better game. Diablo 3 is a catastrophe.

on the otherhand this game has improved much, become more enjoyable and the devs really have learned to understand there community;unlike blizzard who just ignored the Diablo 3 community and tarnished the franchise beyond repair almost at this point.


ps: i still have a slight problem w/ the relic system it was stated originally that they would be easily accessible to everyone and that is now the complete opposite.

That's because of the hype train though, you release a few good games, they become hits. Then you take your sweet time to produce your games as you mooch off the profits of WoW and with said hype/fandom of course they will sell like hot cakes. A company like that only thinks about hype and earning money through a single product and not taking many risk.

SE on the otherhand prefers to work their minds and produce a bunch of games, if they flop they flop if they're a hit (Kingdom Hearts) then they can expand on the series and continue it lol. I'd much rather have a game developer which has a 50-75% success rate with games and released 10+ a yr rather then a company that you could argue has a 100% success rate yet only released 2-3 games every decade.

He's not even been able to play D3, said so himself. Like it or not, Blizzard have done good things, if they hadn't they;d not have such a large mass of things, i think people, following them.
