I find the levelling process comparable to most other MMOs, and it wouldn't consider it particularly quick (first 50 anyway). Besides, why anyone would want to indulge in power lvling all classes to cap (knowing 2.0 is just around the corner) is beyond me.

I would be inclined to agree with you. But Yuhtunga Jungle would like a word with you, especially trying to get a party for Yuhtunga Jungle was bad. and then that 40-50 slump was pretty bad, too. While I don't think levelling right now is as slow as it should be, it does not need to be anywhere near as slow as it was in XI. At least now most of your levelling time isn't spent in Jueno with your party flag up.

I agree, we need more NMs, but anything below level 30 would be a waste of dev time.

I agree with this but @ Elexia ppl did the same thing in xi just lvled till they got to max, I remember pting with someone in the jungle(i was 27) and see the guy run past me in jeuno and he was 40 >_>. Lvling didn't take long in xi finding ppl to exp with did that's what ppl keep getting confused on. On my server when dnc came out someone had it to 75 in 72 hrs or less.

I find it kind of ironic though, prior to the stat updates in 1.19 (I think it was) you had a hell of a time trying to take them down without at least 2-3 lv.50 classes all for level 30-35 piece of gear. And while I agree the current exp rate allows us to just zoom to 50, it didn't make a whole lot of sense before then either with the way they were built and the gear that dropped.

This game has thus far completely failed in regards to NMs. The five they originally had they needlessly nerfed, rendering them worthless over night and took all the fun out of what little open world fun this game had. The lower level NMs are nearly totally pointless. There are no Valkrum Emperor's or Leaping Lizzy's. Just junk NMs not worth camping.

    2.0.... maybe.

    That's a low level NM.

lv 1-20 go by too fast for hunting NMs for gear for them to be worthwhile. There are no level caps in the game so no reason to keep low level gear once you're done with it.

That being said I'm sure 2.0 will have more NMs and that this is just something they're treating as low priority for the current client.

Because being choosey about gear before level 30 is pointless.

Yep since you spend all of 10 seconds under level 45 in this game (Exaggeration.) It's a pity too, because the world reform for 2.0 is meaningless if you still sit in one spot getting powerleveled then go to the next. NMs are usually one of the driving forces of explorations or trying to gear yourself up.

Though in all fairness, the current issues were them trying to originally give people absolute freedom from skill usage to what you wore and it turns out it didn't work at all, while the RPers liked it in terms of game mechanics it just simply did nothing until they 'fixed' the favor system then later started fixing the problem with 'required class/level' gear.

As long as Yoshi keeps to his word and analyze the leveling speed based on all feedback it should end up ok, otherwise he shouldn't even bother having his team design low-mid level content..XIV is in a unique situation where the only people that has to be pleased currently are at 'end-game' and have been since late 2010 so they've spent so much time trying to please them and get everyone to that point asap, trying to work out something for new/low/mid level players is going to be a challenge in it's own without upsetting the end-game people.

I mean people complained when Shposhae wasn't designed for level 50s, so they did kind of design themselves in a corner by allowing XIV to run while it's being remade rather than taking it offline, but that's just from a design standpoint. Hopefully they fix this when they launch 2.0 and adjusted the leveling pace since while people said it's "just right", those are also likely the people who only care for getting to end-game for loot, not enjoying the ride since he commented that there was also quite a bit of feedback regarding it being too fast and things are being missed out.

In my experience, the actual *leveling* speed was fair in FF11. It was the ridiculous amounts of downtime certain jobs would get during certain level ranges, and the time required to get to certain camps, that was slowing it down and generally being a pain in the ass.
