i have to say its not botting but a team effort, i know and am in shell that i have seen people gather or buy materials from wards and then craft hq items to turn in which will give alot points. they save up to the day they know have enough people do hamlet then turn it all in. the top 3 is not always the same person too. i have char in balmung and aegis and have seen that :P. so unless one has alot of friends or shell that put in team effort to supplky one person and take rotation, best way is work for a 60k+ score in hanmlet and just slowly farm till have 9 seals. many are doing that anyway.

The problem lies in the fact that a group of people can work together to manipulate the top 3 easily. It makes it so people who play solo have no chance.
They could easily remedy this by making a player top 3 and a linkshell top 3.
You mean.... multiple people working together can be more effective, gather more materials, craft more items, etc... than a SOLO PLAYER? Astonishing. We have to fix this immediately.
Looking forward to the "HNM's should be scaled down if i claim them solo. It's not fair!" posts after 2.0.
The entire event is based on solo players, so obviously it wasn't anticipated that a linkshell would all work together to get the top 3 spots. I never claimed that a linkshell working together would get less than a solo player, I said that I didn't like it. Learn to read I suppose.
Apples and oranges. Seeing as such a low amount of players are allowed to participate in hamlet defense, it's assumed that it would be more of a solo event than a linkshell event.
HNM would obviously be different.
Its an mmo, of course square enix knew people would work together. Nothing in an MMO is solo centric, well, other than company leves, and thats the way it needs to stay. There is no point in releasing solo content in an online game, we have 12 other offline final fantasy titles if you want your offline final fantasy fix.
