I don't know what compelled SquareEnix to use squirrels or dormice as opponents, but let's also not forget that SquareEnix is still introducing monsters that look absolutely NOTHING like their original mythical appearances.

ffxi had rat bunnies in sandy and windy from 1-15 solo. mixed with sheep bees and worms. All mmo start you off with weakling creatures. WoW and Aion do also. heck in Aion you can level up to 10 just by gathering plants. How epic is that as a warriror LOL.
