In a more recent interview, Yoshi said he wanted to bring in elements from Ivalice & FF13. I think we all know what that means ^_^. Can almost guarantee they are going to change the name of the race, but it's the character models we are looking for :P

Err where in that did Yoshi say we're getting Viera? There are other Ivalice elements besides Viera. Such elements we already have like the judge armor on the Garlean generals. Or needing to level up in multiple classes to unlock new ones.

Would rather have a race that doesn't look human. Like a Lizard/Banagaa. Still... Viera are nice. Would be epic if Moogles like from FF12 were a new race.

One area that Final Fantasy fans in particular can look forward to is the inclusion of many fan service elements in Version 2.0. Yoshida personally feels that FFXIV should be a fan service title. They're adding elements from past FF games, recreated with FFXIV-level graphics and in the FFXIV world style. As an example, you'll find a Crystal Tower in Version 2.0. This, of course, is from Final Fantasy III. The Mado Armor (Magitek Armor) that appears in Version 2.0 is pretty much the same design as that of FFVI. He also said to expect an Ivalice and the FFXIII world in FFXIV form. Yoshida hopes that this type of fan service gets players excited as they wonder what game's "essence" will next be added to FFXIV.

Yoshi was said "Ivalice" and "FF13" in the same sentence, why not say either FF12 & FF13 or Ivalice & Gran Pulse?

The world makes me think "characters/races", the game makes me think of elements like armor/weapons, combat, scenery, etc.

Just my thoughts, if you don't agree that's fine... But i'm still a firm believer that Yoshi says things strategically, to give people hints & keep them guessing.

It doesn't mean we're getting the race at all.

Ivalice covers more games than FFXII. You have FFT, FFTA, FFTA2, FFXII, and Vagrant Story. I'm certain the reason behind his wording is to not pigeonhole it to FFXII but instead the entirety of the world. We have what looks like Judges, so that could be it. He may have meant it to mean simply a common occurrence between both FFXIII and Ivalice: a floating city/world type thing (Bhujerba in Ivalice, Cocoon in XIII). He could have meant seasonal changes in Ivalice, warring nations theme, bringing the Zodiac summons back etc.

He could have meant ANYTHING other than this race being implemented.

If they add a floating city like Bhujerba, SE can have all my money. FFXIII seems trickier since it's so different from the others. Maybe a crystal pillar will hold up Dalamud before it hits?

I'd personally like to see a Viera-like race in the game just to see what a male one would look like... but I don't know if they'd mesh too well in the game. Would kind of just look like a Miqo'te and Elezen had a kid - which would bring the whole "mixed races" argument back to the front of the line.
