Give a scenario what is progress, spamming 60 hamlet with 100% seals? Turn in 10x single melded avenger? Then spam 30 av/cc for the item at 100% drop rate? Are you gonna be happy with spamming content?Like ppl explained the last 22 sites and what you guys just did ignore because theres nothing to say against (because it doesnt involve to make anything easier or faster): I want to see Progress.
All i need to know is, that the time spent wasnt wasted. Not to cross fingers every time.
If it still takes a year or two, im fine with that, never had a problem with long-time goals nor with difficulty (loved the difficulty of CoP back then).
Progress and the same amount of work for everyone.
This has absolutely nothing to do with less work/time, like some trolls repeat all the time because they are unable to argue.
Tell me, whats wrong with progress
if its like that to get relik weapons than no thanks
A lot of people totally miss the point of the current system. Rolling a lucky number IS NOT hard or easy, it's PURE LUCK.
PURE LUCK content is boooooring.
You can design a lot of steps with heavy challenge, or long progression. Obtaining a Relic will be HARD, but it'll be far more rewarding than doing 250 Hamlets for nothing and 9 reawarding, only for the first step.
Because that's exactly what this is. Besides the 9 drops you'll be lucky to have, all your other participation in hamlet is for NAUGHT.
But i'm sure you won't complain when a new member of your LS joins for his first hamlet and gets the drop
FFXI has a lot of flaws, but the Magians Trial for Empyreans was a far better upgrade system, and it still requires dedication and time.
See? This guy is smart! He sees the requirements to get a weapon and makes a decision based around how dedicated he'd be to getting one. He decides it is too difficult for him, so he passes and focuses on other things.
This is how you respond to something that is too difficult for something that is not required to get.

That is exactly true, which is why most people preferred Empyrean weapons (and why more people had one compared to a Relic). The more powerful the weapon, the harder it should be to obtain. That is why Primal weapons only require a fight and some luck on the drop. They are perfect for people who do not want to dedicate more time towards Relics. Darklight armor is another thing.
So, my point is the same as always: Too hard to get? Skip it. It's not for you.
Jesus Christ... i have the feeling it would be easier to explain it to my sisters dog...You want progress? Ok.
Every GC Seal you obtain toward the 25,000 = Progress.
Every Hamlet Item you receive = Progress
Getting the Soiled Promissory Note = Progress
Getting the HQ Materials = Progress
Killing the NM = Progress
Obtaining the Dungeon Items = Progress
How is doing any of these "not seeing any progress?" You don't want progress. You want Guarantees. You want 100% drops and success rates. Anything less would mean "RANDOM NUMBER GENERATOR! TOO HARD!"
Stop trying to sugar-coat things to make your point sound more intelligent than it really is. You might as well just come right out and say it: "The current Relic system is too difficult. Make it easier."
Where do you see progress if u do hamlet for days without getting anything? Theres no progress.
Where do you see progress if one meld goes wrong after another?
I remember Ifrit where i did go 1/1 while others had 0/70. Got nothing to do with skill, fairness, difficulty or something like that. Pure luck, thats it.
And yes, guaranteed drops. Thats progress. But who says it have to stay at 9 seals then? As ppl said before, it would be ok if its 150 seals and we get one each hamlet. U know u have to do 150 hamlets to get it done and u know every other have to do 150 hamlets too.
You say we just think its to difficult (to speak about difficulty regarding this quest is like talking about player-skill for materia melding lol), i say ur just not smart enough to get the point.
In all honestly I agree with the OP, I made the first Gungnir on Asura in XI and it was retarded how long it took. When I finally finished making the relic the game was not interesting to me at all as it had turned into a job. Not something fun that I looked forward to playing every day or logging in to see my friends I felt like I could retire from some mind-numbing grind. It seems like a lot of xiv has this same charm... If you want the cool new stuff you must grind (*cracks the whip).
As for people complaining about the OP's post lets look at the likes on this post I was #222 based on this and the number of people who actually take some time to look at the depressing forums I would hope that SE or devs etc would take notice and get their butts in gear on this movement. Bayohne where you at?
The suggestions made by the original poster I would do regardless if they led to a relic, now, or two years from now. Why? Because they are fun, in and of themselves. I enjoy hamlets, but not if you require that I do it 1000 times. I love the design of CC and AV, but not if you make me do it 1000 times with speed runs that require you "skip" large amount of the design/content.
I enjoy crafting, but not if you make it where I lose all of the materials I spent the last month trying to obtain, not to mention the millions of lost gil.
There is Qualitative progression that can take a very long time, but the ride is worth it. OR,
There is Quantitative/Repetitive progression that undermines the already existing content, and alienates the playerbase, along with anyone else that wants to join the game for the first time.
Honestly, look at it from the perspective of someone who's just joining the game. Do you honestly believe they will ever embark on this "Journey" if the mountain they have to climb is at a Verticle slope?
There is challenge and then there is masochism. I find it amazing that so many people prefer the masochism.
Edit:
I've come to the sad realization that the only "new" content from now until the release of 2.0 (6 months from now) is a Legatus battle. So what do you do if you're SE to pass the time as you make stuff for 2.0? The Relics.... Now that I see it for what it is, I consciously refuse to partake in it, or impliedly endorse the concept.
I log on and do hamlets of the shell needs it. If they need one more for CC and AV, fine... But I won't be caught in the hamster wheel. I love watching basketball, but when I did Fantasy Basketball in college, I started to hate it. I think it's analogous.... the Relic design concept is going to make people hate the content, that otherwise, would be fun to do without the external pressure of getting drops....
This will create a lot of rifts in shells where CC, AV arn't on speed-farm status, and Hamlets where friends playing together can only get a 30k score.
My 2.5 cents.

Sure, the base item is easier to get now. But to keep it useful you have to upgrade it every five levels past 75.Actually, people in XI did complain about how long it took to get a Relic weapon. After years of complaining, SE finally decided to give in and Relics are now able to be obtained more easily. And guess what happened?
That's right. Everyone started complaining about how easy it was and how it's unfair it is to those who actually worked hard to get one before-hand.
The final upgrade involves farming the hell out of Dynamis to kill Arch Dynamis Lord 500 times.
Mythics' last upgrade requires 150 drops from PW.
So yeah, they made the first step easier. But, lol, they made the road to it being "complete" absurd.
