Of course this item is going to take long to get it's supposed to be the best weapon in the game. If you don't like how it is then don't attempt to get it. It's not a requirement to get these weapons, I can guarantee that there will only be a handful of people with them for a very long time.
I think the point you and so many others are overlooking/turning a blind eye to is that the time investment is completely based on /randomness. If lady luck favors you on Tuesday and you get your dbl meld 1/1 your 9 seals in 9 hamlet wins it takes you a week and little money. If she's a bitch and you go 1/10 on your dbl meld and your 9 seals take 140 wins then you've spent substantial time and money.

Random isn't a measure of skill or dedication, it's a measure of how much gambling frustration you can take and your stubbornness, or a measure of how lucky you are.

Is the idea that the people that have relics are only the ones that have luck in their corner really the way it should be?
Or perhaps it should be the people that invest substantial time/money and actual show they're dedicated to that goal?

The idea that you might need to, like FFXI Relics/Mythics, need to put in HUGE amounts of time and/or money should be what slows people down and even stops them from bothering. It should NOT be from repeated RNG mushroom stamping.
