According to E3 interviews there will be a 2.0 alpha in late September then a beta shortly after with more people added. Think it will just be sign up and randomly get picked or will they just end emails to whoever had a 14 account.

None of us will be part for alpha. Beta will probably be everyone very quickly.
It's a long ways off, don't worry about it.

That's not really the impression they were giving in the interviews. It was like late September alpha, beta shortly after, release in Winter.
I think the Outline is set up to say "trial period" because Square didn't want to admit the state of FFXIV any more than they needed to. They were forthcoming, but saying hey, we're now going to charge you for what amounts to a game alpha [core systems constantly changing] wouldn't fly over very well, so they changed it to read like a "come back and explore what we've changed since we're so nice to you!" In reality the trial, concurrent with the PS3 beta, is a PC beta as well.

I get the impression that those of us who qualify in the legacy campaign will be granted access to the alpha?
