If you read all the agains viera posts its all "I don't want another furry" and "a lonely man's fantasy" I have not seen anything to say they already have lore in another game, so I don't think we should have them.

While they may not add Viera I don't think that was in there by mistake, I think they could have been looking into it, or they would have used Miqo'te as an example of a mammalian demi-beastman, because they are, looking into it more it seems to have been to see what people would think of Viera overall, and if the reception was bad, use another idea.

It would otherwise make no sense to use Viera as the example, they could have said "Mamalian demi-beastmen (similar to Miqo'te humanoids with features from other mammals)" seems to have been more of a leak or hint to me.

I really wouldn't read too much into it. Look at the fiasco with hamlet. Vierra was an example yoshi used so players would have something to compare too.

Also what makes people so sure that everyone who voted for a mammal like race saw "Vierra omg do want!"? I could vote for the mammal race and imagine a bat like stealthy race known for being shifty and menacing, or a walrus race with tusk. There are more instances of mammals on this earth then bunny's...

Those that would support a Viera~esqe race are largely against overly-sexualized designs as well. (Don't forget, that there will be both male and female versions of whatever race they create)

If Viera end up anything like the OP's posted slutty Fan-Art, I would be opposed to them as well.

One thing I am saying is in the live letter they showed a drake, ahriman and goobbue they were looking at for possible mounts, these were examples and looking at if mobs would be possible as mounts, then they give us the goobbue mount, this looks like the Viera that was "slipped" in there.

I think it made sense for Yoshi to use that as an example. I mean, Akihiko Yoshida did most of the artwork for this race, already, and it's one of the more notable final fantasy races to be 'demi-human', I suppose.

If they decided to add another race, it would probably be something 'cute', and not overtly...well, like op's pic. That's really not helping the case of 'oh my god lonely mans fantasy'.

I'm curious if they'd just make their own new race for the setting, or if they'd pull a race from another game.

If I was Yoshi-P I would use Miqo'te as an example of a mamalian demi-beastman because they are just that and it would invoke less bias because it is already in game it must be something they have been looking at internally and because of this "I dropped the name “Viera.” For some reason," this type of wording (perhaps someone could get another translation from the japanese of this line see if Yoshi-P said it or the translators put it in) is normally used when there is a little more to it.

I dont mind the idea of new races being added but I really wish they would of expanded on what we have now. The Dunesfolk Clan make villages on the back on enormous beasts wandering through a desert. If you played Panzer Dragoon Orta then this would amaze you like the village that lives on the giant flying monster. Another example that I have brought up before in a previous thread is Duskwight live in caves and there is a deep hatred between Duskwight and Wildwood Elezen but this is no where to be found in game and when I read about the Hellsguard Clan I pictured possibly adventuring to the pits of hell maybe even fighting Hades. But the lore we have now was Tanaka's and Yoshi might not agree with this lore in his plans so I really wouldnt be surprised if its gone come 2.0 but if it stays I hope they flesh it out more instead of it just being referenced like the far east for ninja and samurai in ffxi.

Will I play one? Likely not. Will I mind if they exist in the game? No, so long as they're rendered in their FFXII version.

The American aversion to sexuality is one I find the most perplexing even as US citizen myself. The fact that it's considered so forbidden to talk about, discuss, handle, etc. Is part of the reasons why the subject is treated with such immaturity.

The character Fran was a very interesting one, regardless of her outfit. And we should note, even if they do release Viera, there's no reason why they have to be as scantily clad as they were in FFXII. People need to tone down their knee-jerk intensity some. Think of ways of it being done right, instead of all the ways it would be done wrong - pointing out your desires for variables within possibilities is always better feedback then trying to snuff possibilities out completely.

But I didn't ;P I did the lazy man search and grabbed one of the first ones. They already said they are going to let females adjust their boobs, and the dudes can adjust their bulge... How is that not overly-sexualized? In the end, you wear armor, and that mostly restricts what you see. It's not like everyone is going to run around naked... or are they?
