I don't understand some of the people complaining on here.... what games where you playing before where you had like 2k inventory slots? lol...

There are no games with 2k slots, I think a mailing system would fix this. This allows people to buy more spaces if they choose to store more items. The 330 slots is not a lot, it can go very quickly.
XI did only have 30+ spaces (gobbie bags), but you had a mog house with 50+ also the keychain for more spaces per mule. You could have 1000+ spaces available if you needed, XI also had gear storage places to keep gear for you. In the end a Mailing System will fix this issue, it will also make getting items to/from LS members easier.
I myself run 2 copies and pass items back and forth, so I have more spaces. But those out there who cant do this, I feel your pain.
well alot of the problems go back to the nature of the game. Being a gladiator just to make my equipment, I need to train up, goldsmith, leatherworking, carpentry. Then to make secondary parts if they arn't for sail I need weaving, blacksmithing. Then to train those up I need alchemy. Only thing left you don't need to train up is cooking, but if your leveling alchemy then cooking is easy to train as well.
As pointed out there are alot of times when most basic of items are never in stock, *though I rather collect my own and earn my way up to 50*, but even for emergencies or just being lazy one day I can never find them. I started to collect food/gems/dye type material because when ever I had a recipie to level up on or just for something I was making, they be out or never in stock to begin with.
Conversly selling the most basic of items can be extremly profitable, I've made a fortune selling just fish like crimson crayfish, pikes, and such.

330 is quite a bit, actually. Very few MMOs have that many.
And the most inventory you could get on a single character in FFXI is 400. You'd have to have 2 mules to get 1000+. And guess what? Once they start charging, you'll be able to buy extra retainers for more inventory, just like you could with FFXI (mules).
I would never complain if they added more inventory space, but it annoys me that people keep blaming other people for their own obsessive-compulsive tendencies.

See, here's your problem (and is the error in thinking that most of you are making). You are not meant to craft everything by yourself! The game was designed so that you talk with other crafters and trade materials.

i do craft everything by myself
and manage to keep 100 slots open, so it is possible(as ive stated above on how)
so for most people its how they store stuff, or what they store to be more precise, not that they store stuff at all

Thank you for your earlier post on how you manage your inventory, Thevedis, it was very helpful. Come to think of it, I am pretty sure I have seen you around camps on Besaid, always with that pointy hat and vest!I don't think I'd be willing to cut down that much on the gear, personally, though those are some great ideas for cutting down on craft-clutter.
It would be nice if they altered how +1/+2/+3 items (aside from gear of course) were stored though. I like to use HQ materials when I get them, but sometimes it just isn't worth it to keep 'em in my inventory.
That's true. I do 4 crafts plus 2 sub crafts and Miner and Botanist to gather much of my mats and I still have about 90 slots open at any given time. But it doesn't change the fact that it was designed in a way to encourage people to trade for mats they need rather than leveling up every craft class to get them... which is partially contributing to the problem that the pack rats are having.
oh yes, it definately was done in that fassion, people arent meant to do what im currently doingThat's true. this thread is much more interesting than i realized. i'm amazed at you, thevedis. you have a very disciplined approach to leveling, and it surprisingly works out very well for your inventory space.
i've been frustrated with the economy/markets/inventory system. i play casually, which means i don't have a set plan to level up a set class. and there are a lot of items that i want to move through the market, but because of market failure and the 10 bazaar item limit it clogs up my ideal. basically anybody with a lot of items isn't willing to vendor them.
moral of the story i guess, vendor the crap out of your 330 spaces. economy is a lost cause.

knowing which items are worth what is how you can tell what to vendor and what to sell on your retainer
my general motto is if its a leveling item, sell it on retainer
if its an obscure item no ones gonna buy for days if that(and isnt worth much) i vendor it.
Like today, i went out, and have been at BW all day doing behests.
I got a ton of various feathers(i keep feathers for crafting arrows later, in some of my "extra" slots)
I got a bunch of moss(i dont use it, but my friend does, i save it for him since it only takes a few extra slots)
Hyena Hides(worthless, not used in anything, vendored)
Arimon wings and imp wings(used for wing glue, i keep it)
fine sand(i dont even pick it up i drop it on the spot)
if it wasnt for keeping stuff, id sell the arimon wings, id vendor the imp, id vendor all the moss, id vendor the various feathers.
knowing what to keep sell and vendor takes alot of work in knowing the market and what is worth what in general. the market is in good shape if you know whats what, but thats an entire game into itself right now.a
and knowing what to make and sell is also a pretty big thing(just made those 21 ash longbows, sold 2 and already up 200k from what i used to make the, and yes this is greedy lol, but im still undercutting every other seller by ALOT)
