Will there be a wipe between 2.0 beta and 2.0 live?

@OP: If you have not read, 2.0 will be run in a totally separate server due to server limitations. So it is fully possible for SE to run a 2.0 test server alongside 1.XX should they choose. If they do the test server will be wiped, only time will tell how SE will run their testing.

Thank you Keith for understanding what I was trying to say. And I hope they have the 2.0 test server running along side the 1.XX servers. That way they can work out the kinks in the code/engine. Otherwise, more than likely, it will be 1.XX launch all over again.

No problem, it annoys me to see a thread derailed because halfway through the title people go "WIPE?! No wai! *rageface*" leaving decent questions unanswered.

We should get more info on everything this week from interviews or by August at latest.

All the beta will be is us transfered to the 2.0 client, we'll use using our normal characters on there.

All game content will of been ported over and tested, all we'll be testing is the new cilent.

i have to reply.... if i can find the source, yoshi stated him self that the client 1.XX is running on 2.0 Hardware server. just a headsup for you if you did not read this... and when i get back from work i'll try my best to find the source.

Also, no wipe, we will get 2.0 early because we are testing it, if they don't pay for the game then they don't get to complain when people are ahead of them in a game that came out 2 years ago.

I recall this being the case, as well. The difference will be the server structure, but the hardware itself is currently in use.

I dont think any of us know how Beta will work.

I personally dont think we will get a "Beta" in traditional sense, just us being put on it, and "testing" it during its free trial, at the same time as PS3 Beta.

There is no Beta Schedule on the timeline.

This has been clarified multiple times by Yoshi-P, the Devs, and the 2.0 PDF's. The 2.0 roadmap specifically separates "Playstation 3 Closed Beta Test" & "Version 2.0 Free Trial Period." If you can tell me of any other game that has wiped data from a free trial period, I will be astounded.

Instead of asking a question that has already been answered multiple times, you should just state that you want a beta period for the 2.0 system and give the reasons to support that position. Though this seems to be a common problem for the Forums.

I personally can't support derailing my actual gameplay for 3 months to have a beta that will be erased at the end. I can understand you concerns over people exploiting the game, but I have to believe that they will be a lot less tolerant of exploits. After the amount of time and money they have been putting into 2.0 to get FFXIV back on track, I would be hard-pressed to believe that they are going to let it get tanked by a bunch of people exploiting the game. I like to be optimistic though, so I am probably wrong.

I could have sworn Yoshi already stated that we will be able to keep our 2.0 progression after the 3 month trial and it goes live.
