The solution to every problem is not for SE to hold your hand, regardless of how many people on these forums want it to be.

I don't see this as SE's problem and therefore don't see why they should do anything about it. If people don't want to party up then they won't party up. Personally I don't know why people would not consolidate parties if there were two groups going for it, but then i also don't know why people would be trying to get more than 8 people in on this when it's obvious that only 8 can participate and more than 8 players are out there. But that's just me.

I also don't see why people should be asked to "sit out" or alternate turns as OP implies, when everyone who is there has an equal chance to join so long as you are paying attention when recruitment starts. Yeah SE did change behest to force people to alternate, but now look how many people do behest (nobody). It's dumb to argue over it just because caravans are flavor of the month right now. It's not like people are sitting there with some Konami code to instantly join. If the people you want to play with are not joining fast enough, it's their problem.

Just sign up and play the douchebag or no douchebag card, simple as that. Or go do something else.

I assume that you don't do caravan run's or you would see that this is SE's fault, it's a poorly designed system. I understand that they wanted to allow people to do this when they were by themselves and could join a caravan with others but what they did was bang up the process. The only solution that I can come up with is to have a lvl choice at each camp and make them more like instances, aka pt talks to NPC to start and no one can enter and leach. One caravan running at a time but if there is a pt at one camp doing it you can go to another camp and do the lvl that your pt wanted. No way every camp will have pt's at it but if they did then you could find something else to do. This also mixes things up a bit, I'm tired of walking from Drybone to Gold Bazaar for the 20th time in a day. It's too close to 2.0 to have them worry about it right now but I would like to see something done about it if they are going to keep something like caravan escort in the game. Also on a side note I would like to see ANY green/blue item be able to be turned for seals, I'm tired of throwing away songbow's/scorp shields because when I spam AV/CC that's all SE wants to give me. DH drops are worth 1500~1600 seals, I would spam that but there's no incentive to get a better drop, with AC/CC I could at least say "well at least that's worth 2k seals" and not "crap guess we got nothing from this run". I love XIV don't get me wrong but sometimes I look at some system they put in and say to myself "why would you do it like this when there are so many inherent flaws"

they'll just add a cooldown timer like they did with behest, you'll have to wait 2 minutes after the start of each entry period.

Problem: Like much content, Caravans are designed towards 8 people. More than 8 can not be allowed as the content does not scale to handle more. Exploits could become if 20 people joined a caravan (everyone stands in one spot and spams firaga until its over). This is an unfortunate limitation of the content.

Problem: Caravans are now popular and with more than 8 people at a time wanting to do it, there can be queues (or people just left out). SE perhaps did not anticipate this.

Problem: Caravans can not leave more often than ever 15 minutes or you run into a situation where two caravans are side-by-side. The present content can not handle this well. (Lag, conflict of who hits what, what happens if you are in a party where half is in one caravan and other half in other, etc.)

Reality: If more than 8 people show up to do a caravan, who ever clicks first 'wins'. It is not fair to those who lag or are not otherwise quick. It is not fair to those who want to go with friends. However, that is the reality.

Reality: Everyone is entitled to play. You pay, I pay, everyone pays. If someone clicks first they get to play. No 'they are bad, I wanted to go with my party, I was here first'.

Reality: You do not need to be in a party to participate in caravan. Can it be helpful? Sure. Is it needed? No. If you want to help the caravan without joining 7 other people you do not know or like, then go ahead. Likewise the party should not feel obligated to drop people who could not click in time to take those who could. It's their party, they can do as they wish, so long as they do not harm others.

Nice: Everyone gets along, re-forms parties each time and has fun helping the caravan. (Nice, but not required).

Mean: Going AFK while the rest of the people help the caravan, then claim reward at end.

Rude: Telling someone they can not play because you want your party/LSmates to do the caravan with you.

Polite: Asking if you can have a chance at caravan if you missed out on the last couple, and hope someone will volunteer their spot.

Fix: Content scales with number of participants. If 16 people in, double the number of critters that appear, etc.

Fix: More/longer caravan routes so more can be done in paralell without overlapping (i.e. across Thanalan to the ferry). A caravan could still leave every 15 minutes, but since it takes 1 hour to do, the first group of 8 won't be grabbing the second caravan, thus allowing 32 active people instead of 8.

This is what I told them. Told my party to do the same. Its pretty idiotic though, we should all be working together :/
grouping is only important to share the exp during the killing phase. And I doubt someone do caravan only for the exp ^^
It is not important who claimed the monster, just kill all to protect the chocobos.
