Aww, it's a shame you're not on Excalibur. Sorry to hear that.

Well, I'm mostly going off of van Darnus and van Baelsar talking about how they somehow already used Dalamud as a weapon, decades ago, and it tore a huge chunk out of reality somewhere presumably on the Garlean continent; it wasn't supposed to, it overfired, a weapons test gone wrong, and a lot of Garleans (I believe including Cid's father) basically went "Now we're all sons of bitches" and quit working on the technology.

I don't think 'meteor' necessarily implies it'll impact- and if a celestial object the size of Dalamud actually did literally collide with the planet's surface, I don't see how life could possibly survive anywhere on Hydaelyn. That said, I think ridiculously strong tidal forces -as well as- mystical bullshit from the Allagan machine are going to be the actual cause of the reshaping of Eorzea.

    Maybe orbital bombardment?

*Looks at the Black Shroud...* One can always, you know, hope.

This has happened before in the past. The meteor did hit ground and nobody said anything about any monsters coming out of it. If Odin comes out of it, he should already be here from the last time it hit.

The one thing it fails to explain though, is why Garuda mentions that Dalamud drawing nearer saps the crystals powers.

Logically, Primals are fueled by the the crystals, and if Odin is a primal, he wouldn't derive his power from Dalamud.
Unless, the sundering of Dalamud (which was soley created to diminish Odin's power) fully unleashes him on Eorzea, or, another possibility is that the Primals themselves summon Odin to shatter Dalamud to free them from their bind.
Hmmm....Primals summoning an Elder Primal, I rather like that idea.

Nah, the reason that "Dalamud" is sapping the Eikon's of their aetheric energy is because the Empire is using it to control Dalamud. During their last experiment with the lesser moon they destroyed the "antenna" that allowed them to control Dalamud's orbit/descent and so Nael van Darnus is using large amounts of energy to direct it's general positioning instead and draw it towards Eorzea.

In other words, what is sapping the crystal's energy from the primals is actually Nael van Darnus. (As witnessed by the fact that he has the ability to absorb aetheric energy with his spear as he did with the Aetherial Gate after you defeat Ifrit)

Perhaps the other primals will actually save Eorzea by halting Dalamud's descent, and form a grudging alliance with the woken races. Something to the effect of 'if you can prove your strength then we will assist you', hence the player companies commanding primals in 2.0.

As for Odin though... i get the same feeling, that Dalamud is his prison, and in stopping dalamud, he'll be set free and begin working on forming a ragnarok, a great war without end to entertain him.

After all, he didn't just play to the good guys in XI, it was revealed that he was directly responsible for the shadow lord, after he gave Roagrimm his power, and again, for Lillith, when he gave her the same power. He was manipulating every corner.

Have a strange feeling: while looking at the concept art of 2.0 you'll notice that the aetherial crystals are being pulled upwards, what if Dalamud gets close enough to effect the landscape but doesn't actully hit? Like as it enters the atmosphere it opens and releases Odin... 1.23 can't get here soon enough ><

That's interesting. It's plausible but I wonder WHERE it'll actually hit... The 2.0 landscape kind of implies it'll affect all of Eorzea, but is it that big or will most of the changes come from an effect like the one you explained.

Are you talking about the Bozja Citadel? Dalamud didn't hit the planet then, probably something went wrong with the machines that were supposed to control Dalamud, maybe a safeguard the Allags built in went off and wiped the whole facility. There is a mentioning of Dalamud becoming red for a brief period of time in the past, that must be when Garleans tried to control it.

If Dalamud had really struck the planet back then, we'd have the same massive geographical changes that are going to come with 2.0. And people would remember that, yet it's not mentioned anywhere.
