If I was SE i would have taken advantage of the pre-hype to E3 and released the trailer, then at the E3 event itself turned up with a playable version 2 build.
/crosses fingers for playable version 2 build

You know, a lot of you seem to be failing to realize that "no trailer @ E3" doesn't mean "Nothing at E3." They're going to do/show something. It's just not something that would be called a "trailer."
Some nice unedited footage of the new version I'd greatly prefer to a trailer about a game I'm already playing.
It kind of makes sense.
They know their stuff isn't going to get much attention at E3 right off the bat, what with Cowadoody BLOPSTOO, Guild Wars 2, Halo 4, and other games. So what's a "flood" when everyone else is flooding harder?
You can try to justify yourself with copy and paste quotes of yourself, but you can't change the way I feel because you disagree with it because of your own reasons. Until I see a better response from them, not you, I will still feel this way.
By the way, I thought you were going to go watch something because you didn't care anymore. You're still QQing it seems. The person who was like "Whatever, really." If we accepted everything they did we would still have that game that was at the launch of 14. There is also a difference between saying someone is "liers" and being lied too. You can lie to me, but I don't have to call you a liar.
Well now it just looks bad. After all that SE has been saying the past few months with "omg wait til E3 big FFXIV 2.0 Trailer!". Now anyone who was even remotely thinking about looking for that at E3, instead of thinking "oh look FFXIV has come a long way, it looks great!" They will just think, "Yep, SE at it again, couldn't even produce a trailer on time."
Yet people complain about there being no trailer, making most automatically think XIV isn't going to be at E3, even though Yoshida himself said they were going to LA for E3. If anything, those people are the truly blind ones.

I think people forget the difference between trailers and footage. Trailers advertise games. They already pointed at a marketing campaign in august. If you ask me, solidifying 2.0 information and then advertising the game is a much wiser choice for a game which at first glance people will trash.
If it were a new game then yes, I would say this would be a horrible move by SE. However, taking FFXIV's reputation into consideration, if they were to just show a trailer without much info people will ignore it. Now if there was information on how the game is changing and footage that shows the game then, plus a trailer, I think they can pull it off.
There is however one big downside to this. It's certainly true that E3 is by far the easiest place to advertise games. Without that opportunity SE will have to use it's own resources and maybe TGS to market the game by August~ September.

I did watch my show, and I'm copying a pasting where I see fit, Thank you. and I wasn't changing your Opinion at all, I merely just posting what I feel that's all. No need to get all QQ over it.You can try to justify yourself with copy and paste quotes of yourself, but you can't change the way I feel because you disagree with it because of your own reasons. The trailer is complete, there wasn't any time contraints on that decision. I like to believe people at SE are smarter than me when it comes to marketing and promotion, so I will see what they have planned.Well now it just looks bad. I'm going to play devil's advocate and say that people need to stop thinking that they are the only ones that can see the best solution to these issues. "Fix this, do that, all you have to do is do this" You don't think SE has thought about that? They are a huge company and are likely to have marketers behind them and have probably argued and debated all of these possibilities. If a handful or so of professionals found it best to postpone the trailer release, there has to be at least one good reason. It's not like they're thinking "Hey, lets piss off our players again. Don't release the trailer!"
When all else fails, Heck the Bed.
I agree with this ^^ +1I'm going to play devil's advocate and say that people need to stop thinking that they are the only ones that can see the best solution to these issues.
