hot damn, that Mozk-tabetai one is really well laid out. Bookmarked. =3 will be using that for general queries and MoogleBox for crafting.
While alakazam started as a Everquest info cash they branched out into just about any game you can think of. In the quest for more page views and add revenue. Look at that front page, look at whats available for click through. Think about ffxiv's over all popularity and that's your reason that you see no xiv related stuff there. front page real estate is a hot commodity for them. I'm not trying to bash them or anything just being realistic about how web pages make money these days. The company is not in it for the warm fuzzy feeling after all.

absolutely agreed griss. i find it rather amusing how they keep the site up, in hopes that us hardcore players (who still remember to check their site) would actually be interested in a game like Tera? ok, Diablo 3 i understand. but TERA doesnt even sound that great
i wouldnt want anyone to know that im playing TERA. that sounds embarrassing.
im TERAFIED! ;p

ZAM always sucked IMO, even with XI. I wish the XIV wiki wasn't terrible =(
I love mooglebox![]()
ZAM is bad and has always been bad.
My biggest regret as far as fansites go is that Eorzeapedia adopted the whole "GamerEscape" thing. That was completely retarded, why couldn't have been just like FFXIclopedia? There was no need for the bloat and cumbersomeness.
It's a pain to edit the wiki there too, the templates are way too static. No wonder it's not updated.
It has been my impression that most fansites gave up on the current once Ver2.0 was announced. The only site that I have seen with constant updates is Mooglebox. Even YellowGremlin is way behind on updates. I guess it is "why waste time on a dead subject; lets plan for the replacement".
I still use ZAM
I look up the recipes on lodestone, sure, but when it comes to finding out WHERE to get the ingredients, ZAM is still right.
I also like the way I can easily click around without popup-in-a-popup-info-right-in-my-face like with mooglebox (did they change that by now?).
And I like how I can easily switch between the languages.
But I provided a lot of info on new stats, prices, pictures many weeks ago and nothing got updated at all which is kind of..grr. Whatever..you can't force a site to stay up to date.
So add to it?
I'm not quite sure what information is "severely" lacking... if there's something else you'd like to see on class/job pages let us know.
That's the point of GamerEscape/Eorzeapedia. The community adds the information. We don't rely on a guy that clicks a button to update a database list, we rely on the FFXIV community to populate it, that's the whole point of a wiki- Everyone can contribute and see their changes right away.

Some of the comments here about the Gamerescape wiki make me sad. I guess I should assume that the comments of a few are not necessarily representative of the community as a whole, but nevertheless, a very small group of people spend countless hours on the site just for fun and to help out the community - and try to make it a valuable resource, and one that is easy to use.
The wiki is up to date. In fact, as far as I can tell it is more up to date than the dat mining sites, which have far less info than we have. Not sure any other sites have any action/combo information, levequest, quest or mission information. There are also player guides, pages describing things like Hamlet Defense and Inns. Item pages have HQ information, condition information, usage (i.e. food/alchemy) information, plus associations with levequests, quests, chests and mobs. Not sure anyone else has any lore information, mob family information, any NPC information other than maybe merchants, and certainly none of their dialogue. No other site has any quest dialogue. That's just off top of my head.
I like some of the above referenced sites. I respect dat mining sites and think that they can add to a community's collective knowledge base, but I think our wiki has its place too and hope that people find it useful. If there are things that people want please let us know so we can work on it. And by "we" I mean the 3-4 people actively working on the wiki in their spare, volunteer, time.
