No trailer at E3 LOL @ SE

I kept telling pple SE will disappoint at E3 this year but everyone was so pumped up thinking SE would blow the world away with their 2.0 trailer.... but no.


SE missed their biggest chance at saving XIV. Exactly when all of the gaming industry has their eyes set on E3 for the biggest news on the year... SE decided to skip by saying "the most effective way to introduce version 2.0 to the world would be with a flood of new material rather than just a trickle."

How giving to world less = a flood, is beyond me. I can bet anything that their trailer was pure old stuff mixed with 2.0 CGI and since they saw that almost everyone was expecting something big, they choked.

Anyone else disappointed by this? Most pple that were turned off by XIV because of it's poor launch, will not be looking up by themselves for 2.0 news, nor will they give a crap about a website. E3 and a new gameplay trailer would have been the best chance of showing these pple that XIV will change. Pple that never played, know by now the bad reputation the industry has given XIV and they missed their chance to bring in these pple too.

Good Job SE! They should get an award at E3 for management of the year.

Doing a quick google search with Final Fantsy XIV E3 for the past 24h and the news of the cancelled trailer is all over the web. Lots of sites have posted the big news and i can tell you that most comments are very harsh and the rest don't even give a damn at all about the game. SE missed out their chance on this one....

Also most gaming websites confirm that 2.0's presence at E3 will be only through interviews.

Some people still expect footage and stuff, i just dont. I know there is interviews, but that i think will be it, with the 2.0 site being the "kickoff" launched after.

yea, i was shocked a lil aswell.
i mean E3 is the best way to show new & old players what's to come in the future, and let's be honest, SE sucks at advertising their games otherwise.

i'm not pissed at not seeing a trailer at E3, i'm rather confused why SE let's such a great chance slip outta their hands, that PR guy that had the idea to actually not show FFXIV 2.0 at the biggest gaming expo must be fired immediately

Is this about Enix deciding to release information in one go or is that about you being upset that there isn't anything nice to look at?

Either way, Ver. 2.0 will be released when it is finished. Not before.


I rejoined the game last August and it took a lot of persuading from a friend for me to come back on. I didn't care what changes the team made, as far as I was convinced this game was dead and no amount of Letters from the Producer or CGI trailers would convince me otherwise.
If I wasn't playing the game now and I saw the game at E3 being presented by a trailer and not gameplay I would just assume that it's Enix's dead MMO wrapped up in new bandages so it can walk the Earth that little bit longer before falling apart.

There needs to be more than a pretty visual to convince an already sceptical target audience. Yoshi-P has worked damn hard to win me over but nobody outside of this game has heard of him!

Fact is E3 is full of other games. It's not just for FFXIV!
Showing a forgettable trailer for FFXIV will just be overlooked whilst the bigger, fancier stuff is taking place.

Leave your personal feelings aside. If you're in a deep romance with this game then stop objectifying it and demanding that you are looked after when the game needs to look after itself, too!

CGI trailers are not everything, how many times do you see a trailer that says "not actual ingame footage" and looks awesome, then you play the game and it sucks (hmm FFXIV 1.0 seems familiar with that I don't know why) but if they release gameplay, perhaps have a concept version on the show floor as well, people will know what gameplay looks like.

That is worth more than 5 million CGI trailers.

Seriously, because NO ONE has been able to do this yet, show me where they say FFXIV will NOT be at E3, because I get these from the letter:

Interviews and artwork we got from the 2.0 documents. Nothing else will be there at E3. Which means the 2.0 unveil is on par with the 1.0 launch. Gotta give it to SE for keeping up with the tradition.....
